Best lever drag in it's class
If you don't already own a Shimano Lever drag reel, you are missing out. These reels are incredible. We caught a dozen tuna on this reel last weekend off the Oregon coast. That reel was screaming all day while the drag smoothly gave the line the tuna wanted to take at exactly the setting I wanted it to give. Smooth as can be! Want more drag? Press the button and lever up! The price point of this reel is where it really shines. I would pay significantly more for one of these than they charge.

Strong and Dependable
This reel holds a ton of line and, paired with a heavy rod, can battle some big fish. The biggest fish mine has tangled with was about a 60-lb barracuda. The TLD held its own! Make sure you read the instructions on setting the drag according to the strength of your line. It is very important.

Great reel
Can't beat these Shimano's, super smooth and easy lever drag. Lightweight but able to stop a big fish. Never going back to the star drag.If you haven't fished these you are in for a treat.

awesome smooth drag
I use this trolling for salmon on Lake Ontario, awesome smooth drag reduces lost fish, I should have got the next size down because of the weight but I am very happy with the performance.

Can’t go wrong with Shimano.
If you fish a lot and hard, stay away from the entry level reels and you will never have a problem. Built to last!

Great for sturgeon fishing!
Was able to land a 6ft 100lb+ sturgeon on this reel! Not the biggest sturgeon but I'm sure it could've handled more. The anti-reverse isn't instant like the Penn Squalls but the durability of these is top-notch.

If any thing the TLD20 is more comfortable than the TLD25
My TLD25 lasted over 20 years and rather than rebuild it I replaced it with the TLD20. The price was less than half the cost of my TLD25. These reels haven't changed in quality or features. If any thing the TLD20 is more comfortable than the TLD25. I had no problem spooling 500 yards of 80 lb test Power Pro and backing. Excellent reel for west coast halibut and ling cod fishing.
