I have a large patch of artificial turf and two dogs. I tried a couple of different sprays and this has been the only one that actually works. I apply it after sundown, mist the turf, put down the application, then mist again. The key I think is to give it a chance to stay damp for a few hours so the microbes have time to do their work.

I live in the desert (hot, dry, little rain). My yard is small and enclosed with vinyl fencing (allows for little airflow). I have two large dogs, and often board other dogs in my home. I have artificial turf. I paid a premium price for the product and installation to have ‘minimal odor concern’. Boy did I regret that extra expense! Within days my yard was unbearable! I almost think that whatever they laid underneath the grass as an odor controller made the situation worse. Compounding this torture my evaporative cooler is located directly above this perfect storm of dog urine nightmare (which means this horrific odor is sucked into my entire home every time I use my cooler). A full year of pleading/arguing with the turf installers, purchasing every kind of ‘urine eating enzyme’, odor control etc etc... spraying/hosing (which btw was a daily necessity...that helped a teeny bit... but being conscious of my water usage in the desert made me feel terrible ‘watering’ plastic grass every day). I was just about to give up.. tear out thousands of dollars of awful smelling plastic grass and lay down real grass (since I was watering the area anyway). Then I discovered this amazing cure!! I used an entire gallon the first week - I needed to spray the area every evening for 7 days until THE ODOR WAS GONE!!! Not, like most of the other stuff I tried.. perfume covering the urine smell (which baked in the desert sun made things so much worse)... this stuff ELIMINATED THE URINE ODOR! It did take a little while for me to ‘colonize’ the space with those microbes. But at last I found a solution. I still need to spray on a pretty regular basis... and the cost of the product is daunting....but it is the only thing I have found to work. I wish they had a discount for an auto ship or something... that being said... I lay out the $$$ so that I can still enjoy my yard, not have my neighbors complain and to be able to use my evaporative cooler. Follow the directions! (They even have videos to show how to use this live product) and you will not be sorry!

I have a large backyard and turf. My initial thoughts on turf were the maintanence free care. With animals that is far from true. This is a wonderful product. I had to use the whole thing over days and ordered again. My yard in mid summer with our 100' days smelled horrible. It was a lot of work getting it normal and not because of this product but my negligence. You must follow the directions and watch the video. It's easy and it works if used appropriately. Lawn must be wet first, then sprayed and wet again. It's absoluely a mircle how well it worked. I will use it from the start of spring and forward. Yard was pleasant to be in. Thank you.

UPDATE:I’m changing my 5 Star Review to 1 because the last 2 batches have not been effective at eliminating the odor. I’m not sure if the enzymes were poor quality, but we prepared the product per instructions and the odor was prevalent as if the area hadn’t been treated at all. After 15 minutes it (the odor) was still there. Thirty minutes later the odor was worse so we treated it again. The next day the odor was very prevalent and offensive I might add so I treated the area again but had no luck with even reducing the smell of urine. I even emailed the company but was instructed to watch their videos (which I had).So after many attempts with failed results I cried uncle and decided to try some left over Nature’s Miracle and much to my surprise it worked. So now I’m using a combination of NM products (Urine Destroyer and Stain/Odor Enzymatic Formula) twice a day (AM/PM) and this seems to be working VERY well and it costs less. I still have some left over Urea but feel like it’s a waste of both product, money and my time since it has had no impact on the odor.Initial Review BelowToo bad you can’t scratch-and-sniff this review because this product is worth the smell test! All I can say is that it has worked for us! We have a 2 yo female English Bulldog and an approx 8x8 fenced potty area which is ironically located near doors and windows so there’s no escaping the odor. Countless remedies and products: vinegar/water mix, bleach, Nature’s Miracle, etc was used, but nothing seemed to truly omit the odor and certainly not beyond a day. It’s also important to note that we’ve had this odor problem for well over a year and hot, humid and windy Charleston weather only exasperates the problem.Now once we received this product, my husband mixed it per the instructions and saturated the area each night for 4 consecutive nights. Day 1 the odor was considerably less - meaning it wasn’t obnoxious as per usual. The odor was present but not in a “slap you in the face” kinda way.Day 2 - seemed more like Day 1 meaning the odor was present, but again, not obnoxious. It was so much like Day 1 that we second guessed if he mixed it correctly.Day 3 - OMG like the odor was 98% gone. I’m not kidding or exaggerating. We were able to not only walk by the area without that pissy odor, but we could also go into her potty area and clean her business without the faintest smell of pee! I KID YOU NOT!!! My husband and I were sitting outside in our cafe area and the winds were sending lovely summer breezes. Not once did we smell pee! A first!Day 4 - We loaded up the car for our beach home and not once did we smell pee as we walked back/forth. Not once. Not even a slight hint of a scent. Nothing. Nada. Niet. Nein. Nee.Fast Forward - We returned from the holiday 3 days ago so she’s back to her potty place. During the past 3 days my husband has NOT sprayed and there’s still no odor. I am just amazed at how I can a) walk out my back door and no pee; b) sit in my cafe space and no pee; c) walk to the garbage can and no pee; d) stand outside for any length of time and NO pee; and last, but not least e) stand smack dead in the middle of her potty yard and not smell pee! Life never smelled so good and neither has my yard. #Imsold

I have tried a few different products to get the urine smell out of my turf. Urea-Z has proven to be the best but not without consistent work. I have to stay on it and apply on a regular basis. Yes it'd be nice to just use it once a month or so but really after the first initial 5 days straight I use it once a week or 10 days. Sometimes I have to do a double application if it's pretty hot. It gets 4 stars only because it doesn't always work with just the one application. I also use 16 ounces and not 8 for each application.

The price is pretty steep, but after spraying my dog run that have artificial turf the smell has completely disappeared. I had to spray the grass for three days and keep the dogs offf the grass to notice a difference. I did this for two weeks and the smell is gone. Now I am going to do weekly sprays to maintain. The product smells awful but it works. I’ve tried other cleaners and this one has lived up to the claim, so now I am not so upset about how much it cost.😁
