This book was a precursor to where the world of Banking was evolving to
5/5 RatingIt's almost unfair to read and review this book now as it's almost like playing Monday Morning Quarterback. The things have happened and are happening now. I currently work in Banking / FinTech but on the operations side so I'm not costumer facing as most ppl in Banking would say. This book talks about the future of banking, a future where currency is digital, where you will enter banks and there will be no lines, no cashiers, no humans to talk to. It's nearly like that now in major cities such as the one I live in. I treasure that human interaction, where you can have a talk and gain information. This book may not resonate with everyone but trusty, the topics discussed resonates with everyone. This is the direction Banking is going. that little device on your pocket that you use every second of every day will be your gateway to the world. It's not integrated into almost every aspect of your life. The sooner we realize the sooner we can adjust.

Comprehensive and interesting read
Brett King's book-Banking 4.0 is not only interesting and well-written but well tracks the huge amount of change that has occurred in the banking sector in the last decade in particular. He then builds on this to then showcase what is already happening by way of new technology and innovation and foreshadows what is likely to happen by way of change in the near future. A great read and well worth it.

Concepts yet to be implemented
New to the banking sector. Read this book to learn more about the industry and where it could go. Get overview of banking history and the solutions for the future. Great read. Most major banks are working with these concepts in their innovation labs in some order of magnitude.

The first 100 pages...
Sept 29th: I have yet to make it through the first 100 pages and I'm going through highlighters. The forward thinking here is spot on! So far I'm quite impressed with the examples and clear thinking being presented that I couldn't help but comment. I'll follow up later after I finishing reading for a proper review.Follow up Dec 29th: Brett King's Bank 4.0 is the elixir to modern banking. For the vast majority of credit unions and banks the chemotherapy needle is already in. Case in point on page 247... "The larger problem for banks is that Alibaba/Taobao, Tencent, Apple, Amazon, Baidu, Google, and other platforms incorporating payment gateways, will often know more about their customers than the banks do. If a Beijing car dealer uses a bank debit card for a business trip to Shanghai, the bank knows what airline he or she flew, as well as the hotel and restaurants patronised. If he uses a mobile super-wallet like Alipay or Tencent WeChat, the bank knows nothing about that trip and the bank is data poor.""...banking and technology are synonymous now."Want to see where banking is going in the next decade read this book. If you want to see into the future follow Brett.-Chris

A realistic digital transformation roadmap for your bank
I read this book in year 2019 and consider it very relevant in today's scenario as well because COVID-19 has accelerated the speed of digital adoption in financial services industry. Below are few of the top takeaways from this book:1. In the new world, if you will ask a post-millennial consumer to sign a piece of paper or visit a building to get service, they won't think that you are crazy...they simply won't understand what you are talking about.2. Bye-bye products, Hello experiences3. The next largest financial services company will not be a bankIt's a must read for innovators and technologists. Thank you Brett King for writing Bank 4.0.

Insightful read on the future of banking
An excellent, insightful read that articulately summarises how banking will look evolve in the next decade. Brett King provides context and real examples on how various industries (retail, movies, books, music etc..) have been disrupted by technology and how banking as an industry will not be spared either. Very engaging style of writing. Highly recommended.
