York Fitness White Perform 215 Recumbent Cycle

After assembling the bike ( a marathon in itself) I found that the 32 different resistance settings were not working at all. There was no resistance. I called York for help only to be told to take the machine apart myself to see if the magnets had come loose in transit. I refused and was told then to contact the seller via Amazon. I tried calling Sweatband's customer support number on no less than five occasions, each time no answer. I called the sales line and was answered after two rings. they put me in touch with " Michael" in Customer Services who would not comment on why the phone was not answered but said he would contact York and arrange an engineer to visit. York aparently promised to contact me within 72 hours.I heard nothing after four days and chased him again asking for the contact number and reference so I could chase up the issue myself.York eventually arranged for an engineer to call the following week.The engineer said the fault was not repairable and was probably caused at the factory, he would arrange a replacement. I received a terse email from York stating that unless the bike was on the ground floor and could fit through the door, the collection would fail. No apology for all the delays and no personal touch at all. my first call to York was 15th April , the replacement is due to happen Friday 9th May. 24 days without use of the bike, unacceptable.Sweatband were so embarrassed by the episode they have offered me a £30 voucher. Nothing from York. £400 spent and countless hours on the telephone and email means I will certainly never buy from them again and have warned my friends and family.
