Great value
This thing fits the bill, small and lighter weight, can fit in your pocket. Food quality night vision.

Good EDC addition
This is a nice little addition to your EDC, especially in the winter months when it gets dark so early. This is not something I would want to fight with or even my first choice to evade since the field of view is not very large. But it is good to use to look around and identify what is around you. I have security cameras around the outside of the house and they all have IR illumination. With that IR and what is built into this device I can see very well around the perimeter of the house. Its very small and light weight - I like it for what it is. Its a inexpensive small devise that will let you see about 75 feet in the dark.I like it and will buy another.

I'm just not sure what value this really has.
I wanted very much to like this item. It's tiny, it's light weight. It appears, in description to fill an interesting niche. It doesn't.It is COMPLETELY FUNCTIONLESS without the IR light turned on. As in, even in a room with enough light to navigate by bare eye, this unit shows pitch black. Without the IR light turned on, the unit is simply doesn't work no matter the lighting condition. Even using the item in a lit room it can't see into darker corners. Now this wouldn't be the end of the world if the IR illumination (no matter the setting) wasn't basically a flashlight. It's SO BRIGHT to the naked eye. For fun, I moved the unit over a book and was able to read the text by the IR light BETTER than with the night vision. And the light that emits from the back could easily use used as a tiny flashlight.Basically, you'd be better served with a strong red light. One of the reviews talked about sneaking around. No way. You can see the IR from so far away, it's like shiny a red laser. Have you ever looked at security camera at night? The IR light on this is BRIGHTER than any security camera I've ever looked it, even one where the manufacturer used the brightness of the IR as a plus, claiming it deterred robbers because they could see it plainly at night.I guess if you were ONLY looking at wild life that would otherwise be perturbed by a standard red light, this could work. But it's not even that great in that capacity. I'd pass. Technology just isn't there yet for effective and inexpensive digital night vision to be viable.

Kids toy
The IR ilum turns this item into a expensive, low quality flashlight. A little disappointed, given OP's usual great quality and service.

Tiny night vision
Works real good but even better if you are crafty enough to add a wide angle lens a ball cap hat mountAnd change out the ir emitter to 950 nm

Compact
Don't expect Pvs-14 level optics but this is a handy thing to have for casual looking. If you're going for stealth, the IR light will give you away. I like mine...fits right in the pocket sizewise and costwise.
