Montane Mens Icarus Jacket RRP £150

Absolutely love that jacket.Very warm, looks good you can see the quality of the jacket and fits perfect.I was out shopping today and actually seen a grey version worn by another gentleman and thought looks good on him. The blue colour I like more than the grey however.No inside pocket which is handy at times but overall very nice coat and the price was just right.

Great jacket - water resistance is good, very warm for weight (hood and neck add to warmth nicely) and windproof. Looks good too. Doesn’t have an infernal pocket (or bag) to pack the jacket into but the jacket does compress well to a small size - I ‘pack’ it into the hood.Be careful of size as this is a slim fitting jacket. For me this meant that although I am usually a size M in most products, because I am a 40” chest and wanted the option to wear a jumper/sweatshirt under the jacket (I think most people will just wear a T-shirt underneath it) I opted for a Large size to have a bit more room. Tried the M but it was tighter than I like with a sweatshirt (and the seller was very good about it) so changed for an L.Great jacket at a good price

Really impressed, good fit, thin but really warm, I’ve only worn this for 1 day but walked across town at a decent pace and had to unzip as soon as I got to my destination; really keeps the heat it. For me the main points to highlight ; good sizing, it’s an athletic design I would say, it’s really lightweight, wind proof and waterproof and for an upcoming long haul holiday compresses down a lot; which will be handy for saving space in luggage. I like the colour as well, and has YKK zips, I hate cheap zips.

Nice colour, light and well constructed. Warm and windproof but then again not really designed for wearing about town, so it can’t be compare it to something say from Next or Debenhams for warmth. It’s a technical jacket for active wear and will retain warmth even when wet so that‘s a plus point in the hills. I‘m a big fan of Montane gear. A few criticisms though. I’m 5’6“ in height and about 40“ chest. Bought this in M but its a little roomy and the sleeves are very long and need tucked under, making it a wee bit untidy looking on me. Also the hanging tag is outside of the jacket. This wont be an issue until it tears, as these things often do, especially if you‘re hanging them wet with stuffed pockets. The logo is iron on and doesn‘t look it would stay on for long. All in all, good value for money.

Really nice jacket, lightweight and warm. I'm 5'11 with 40" chest and this firs perfectly with a t-shirt and thin jumper underneath. Perfect autumn and spring jacket for UK

Had already tried this jacket on in a bricks and mortar chain store that charges you £5 for a discount card so I had no concerns regarding the fit and quality.What can I say? I love this jacket it's warm without bulk and fits perfectly unlike similar brands I have. On cold days it keeps me warm and I've no worries it won't keep me dry.Coat arrived well packaged. The only downside is supplier uses Royal Mail but fortunately I was in when they delivered.

Ich bin Fan von Montane Produkten, das gebe ich offen zu. Wer meine anderen Rezensionen betrachtet, wird sehen, dass Produkte dieser Marke immer wieder bei mir auftauchen. Ich kann aber versichern, dass ich meine Produkte alle selbst bezahlen muss und (leider) kein Sponsoringpartner von Montane bin.Zu Beachten ist auch, dass es durch den Brexit leider nicht mehr ganz so einfach ist, rein britische Marken in der EU zu beziehen. Achtet also darauf, bei wem ihr bestellt, damit ihr nicht später Überraschungen durch hohe Zollgebühren habt.Die Montane Icarus Jacke ersetzt meine sehr geschätzte Montane HI-Q Luxe Jacke.Mit der HI-Q Luxe war ich unter anderem im winterlichen Lappland unterwegs. Als Teil eines Schichtensystems war ich absolut begeistert von der Leichtigkeit und Wärmeleistung dieser Jacke. Die PrimaLoft Gold Isolierung der HI-Q Luxe war die Referenz, wenn es um tierfreie Isolation im Outdoorbereich ging. Nachteil der HI-Q Luxe war, dass diese sehr tailliert geschnitten war. Ich hatte das Problem, dass sie bei mir im Nierenbereich sehr eng war und sich die Fasern nicht richtig ausdehnen konnten, was wiederum zur Folge hatte, dass ich bei Temperaturen um die -20 Grad einen kalten Rücken bekam. Als hoffentlich ebenbürtiger Ersatz wurde jetzt die etwas günstigere Icarus angeschafft.Im Wesentlichen unterscheiden sich die beiden Kunstfaserjacken in folgenden Punkten. Wo die HI-Q Luxe auf PrimaLoft Gold Isolierung setzt, welche aus sehr dünnen Polyesterfasermatten besteht (1 Gramm Faser ist ca. 40 Kilometer lang), setzt die Icarus auf das neuere PrimaLoft ThermoPlume, was als lose Faser-Büschel in die Hülle geblasen, herkömmliche Gänsedaune in Optik und Haptik nahezu perfekt imitiert.Sowohl PrimaLoft Gold, als auch PrimaLoft ThermoPlume sind unheimlich leicht, komprimierbar, pflegeleicht und isolieren selbst in feuchten Zustand, im Gegensatz zu Daunen, noch zu ca. 98 Prozent. Beide Jacken sind mit 180g Füllgewicht eindeutig für die kalte Jahreszeit ausgelegt. Beide Jacken wiegen ca. 580 Gramm. Als Innenfutter kommt bei beiden Jacken PEAQ Synthetic Down zum Einsatz, wobei die Icarus auf 100 Prozent recyceltes Material setzt. Außen kommt bei der Icarus das winddichte und wasserabweisende Pertex Quantum Eco Material zum Einsatz. Dieses besteht zu mindestens 50 Prozent aus recyceltem Polyamid und ist bluesign zertifiziert.Der Frontreißverschluß der Icarus ist innen mit einer Windblende hinterlegt. Die Taschen sind hoch angesetzt, damit sie auch beim Tragen eines Rucksackes mit Hüftgurt erreichbar bleiben. Der Kragen schließt hoch, der Abschluß ist oben mit Fleece hinterlegt, so dass der Reißverschluss nicht am Kinn stört. Die Kapuze ist helmtauglich und gibt über einer Strickmütze wunderbar warm. Im Gegensatz zur Hi-Q Luxe kann die Icarus nicht in der eigenen Tasche verstaut werden. Ein Aufbewahrungsbeutel ist nicht dabei, da findet sich aber bestimmt problemlos was passendes. Die Icarus ist an den Hüften nicht ganz so eng geschnitten wie die Hi-Q Luxe. Mir kommt das sehr entgegen und ich kann unter der Icarus in Größe L, bei 179cm und 77kg, problemlos noch einen dünnen Baselayer, ein Sweatshirt und einen dünnen Fleecehoodie anziehen.Was wir manchmal fehlt, ist eine kleine Innentasche. Wer bei Temperaturen zwischen -20 und -30 Grad draußen unterwegs ist, braucht Innentaschen um z.B. Kamera Akkus oder das Smartphone warm zu halten. Auch kann der elastische Bund nicht zusätzlich durch Bänder in der Weite reguliert werden. Das könnte bei dem ein oder anderen dazu führen, dass kalte Luft von unten in die Jacke gelangen kann. Wer Montane kennt weiß aber, dass die Designer auf jeden möglichen Schnickschnack, zu Gunsten des geringeren Gewichts, verzichten.Mich überzeugt die Icarus in vollem Umfang, mit nur zwei minimalen Verbesserungswünschen. Die Icarus ist leicht, warm, pflegeleicht, ohne tierische Inhaltsstoffe, zum größten Teil aus recyceltem Material und ganz wichtig, bequem. Wem ähnliche Dinge wichtig sind wie mir, der wird mit der Icarus überaus zufrieden sein. Bei einem Preis zwischen 130 und 170 Euro kann man für so ein qualitativ hochwertiges Kleidungsstück ebenfalls nichts sagen.Aber Achtung, meine Meinung bezieht sich ausschließlich auf die Montane Icarus Jacke. Es gibt diese auch noch als Icarus Lite, Icarus Micro und Icarus Stretch. Diese unterscheiden sich zum Teil in Materialien und Füllgewicht erheblich.Update vom 29.11.21:Die Icarus hat inzwischen auch ihre Arktistaufe bestanden. Als Teil eines Schichtsystems durfte sie sich bei Temperaturen zwischen 0 und -11 Grad beweisen. Durch starke Stürme war die gefühlte Temperatur eher im Bereich -15 bis -25 Grad. Darunter hatte ich ein dünnes, funktionales Montane Dart Longsleeve, eine Montane Pulsar Flecejacke aus Polartec classic und darüber eine hochwertige Hardshell von Helly Hansen. Ich habe mit dieser Kombination auch nach Stunden nicht gefroren. Die Kapuze wärmt für meinem Geschmack hervorragend. Der Kragen dürfte von mir aus noch etwas höher schließen, es ging aber trotzdem noch ohne Schal. Vermissen würde ich noch eine Innentasche, um z. B. Akkus körpernah aufzubewahren. Das Problem mit dem kalten Rücken, wie bei der Montane Hi-q luxe, hatte ich diesmal überhaupt nicht. Ich kann die Icarus nur jedem empfehlen, der eine wirklich superleichte, warme, klein komprimierbare Jacke sucht, für die auch etwas Feuchtigkeit kein Problem ist.

Love the jacket. As expected excellent quality. Nice and warm and not bulky. I'm 5'10 and 78kg and the medium fits fine. I've a broad chest and back and have no issues with the fit. I reckon it would fit someone up to the height of 6ft with no issues as there is a bit more length in the arms and body.
