VentSaver HD Stove Chimney Pipe Protect Metal Roof

04/03/2023Follow up. This winter they did little to keep my second vent protected. It was broken off after the second snow. To make it worse, they broke off the roof. The other vent protectors didn't show any damage and did protect the vents. I will try and get some photos up of the damage. Would not recommend these at all.Before I get the comment that I am just a home owner who barely can screw in a light bulb, I've worked construction and I built the house that these are installed on.They looked like a good idea, break up the snow before it breaks off the vents. Right? Well, they don't exactly work like that. The snow rides up on these like a ski jump and then breaks off, after knocking my boiler vent/air intake cap off. The other vent had the same thing happen. Never mind putting these up was a hassle. Heavy cable instead of just some banding? I did install the first one with the cable supplied with them. It is good solid cable. I used some banding on the second one. Much faster. I admit these would be easier to work with on a shingled roof vs the steal I was trying not to slid off of.I went with a much simpler design for the rest of the vents.On a good note, these are very well made and do come with everything to put them up. There are just easier and probably more effective options.

Very heavy product. This is not some cheap flimsy piece of metal it is very thick and will withstand a lot of pressure. I screwed down the main portion of this and attached the wings to it. I did not however screw down the wings cause the units so heavy I don't think it to be necessary. The shape of the wings push the snow away. Very recommended you get the taller unit. Which this unit is the tallest they have. I used this on my 8 inch wood stove exhaust pipe. It is powder coated so no need to worry about chipping or rusting.

after my chimney got ripped off my barn I bought one of these a little pricey but three years later multiple snowstorms I have had no more chimmneys getting ripped off well worth the price if your chimney got ripped off because of sliding snow but one install it right and you won't have to worry anymore everytime it snows highly recommend

seems to be well constructed. heavy duty design. will see how it works

Was surprised that this unit fit easily in my mailbox. Opened to find 4 metal brackets (admittedly quite substantial), a small bag of screws and bolts, and a chunk of aircraft cable. Was expecting much more. BEWARE comes with a hefty restocking fee and, being heavy, expensive return shipping. I will install and expect it will work. However at this price I would have expected stainless instead of painted steel that is going to rust eventually. They should have been more revealing in their description - read every word and measurement carefully and twice.

I havn't installed this at current time, but did assemble the pieces. It is well made and I'm sure it will serve the purpose it was designed for. If you have a metal roof with furrlings, a 2" x 10" board will have to be installed between the trusses to secure the unit with supplied lag screws. I researched snow wedges and decided this one would best serve my needs. "slydog"

Very heavy duty and works well. It has worked well at keeping the snow from wrecking my wood stove vent pipe. I put it on after loosing a vent pipe from the snow.

Expensive but well made! Easy to install
