iStorage diskAshur2 HDD 1TB Black - Secure portable hard drive - Password protected - Dust & water resistant - Hardware Encryption

I bought this hard drive it was so much complicated to follow instruction and specially if you are a new user I have to contact helpdesk. Helpdesk are very good and helped how to setup my password and now it’s very easy to use it turns off automatically one you leave the device very secure and works with Mac and windows too. I like the idea entering the password in physical button it means strong security to this device wow I love this kind of technology.

I bought the iStorage diskAshur2 and it was well worth my money. Most portable hard drives, as opposed to flash drives, do not come with the same kind of protection. To begin with, it is hardware encrypted, using real-time military grade AES 256-bit XTS full-disk hardware encryption validated to FIPS PUB 197, so there is no software to worry about or drivers to set up. This also means that the diskAshur2 is platform and device agnostic, so it works as well in Windows, Mac, Linux, Chrome or Android. diskashur2 also includes thin clients, zero clients, and any clients that have a USB port. This drive also has a Common Criteria EAL4, and a ready on-board secure microprocessor; FIPS 140-2 Level 3, foundation level NCSC CPA, and NLNCSA certifications are all pending. Of course, it is also fully IP 56 certified for water and dust protection. Enhanced Dual Generating Encryption (EDGE) technology kicks in with a Common Criteria EAL4+ ready secure microprocessor. The microprocessor also comes with built-in physical protection mechanisms to defend against external tampering, can withstand ‘laser attacks’, and fault injection methods. External attacks are completely useless; the internal components are encased in a layer of epoxy resin so tough that breaking the hard drive is impossible without breaking the internal components. Any attempt to break into the device kicks off the deadlock frozen state. All the authentication parameters are encrypted and physically protected by the microprocessors’ memory encryption (scrambler) and access control schemes. Another great bonus was the two product gifts: A Nero BackItUP, and ESET Drive Security. I am overall, very satisfied with this hard drive, and I would not hesitate to purchase any other product from this seller.

In order for this item to stay connected, you must install a patch to your system. The patch is required to enable the disk to remain connected as without the patch the drive disconnects in about a minute... requiring you to re-enter the decryption PIN to reconnect. Every minute disconnect is not acceptable. The patch fully killed my system which was 7 years old and fully up-to-date with MS patches. Since I had already order a replacement PC, I installed the patch to the NEW PC. It continually BLUE SCREENs my system. Since I have broken the seal and have personal data on the drive, I cannot trust to return it... even though I have until 7/24/2021 to return. DO NOT BUY if you are running Windows 10.

The Product is superb; beautifully engineered, provided with an elegant case, strongly built and easy to get started. I have done the initial password setting steps quickly following the instructions and the product was ready to use. It is very user friendly. Enter your 7 to15 digits numerical password and press the unlock button the DiscaShure gets ready to use in a few seconds. When you are finished and you want to sign out, simply press the lock button. Nothing could be easier than this. I am very happy and I am planning to a second one soon.

I bought this to backup thousands of hours of vacation videos and photographs. Many of which I want to protect for privacy reasons for family etc. Being in tech for years and having tested various types of software for encryption, this device eliminates the use for software. It’s very simple to set up for a primary password and also for a guest password. Setting up both was simple without issue. I would note that you need to press the lock symbol first, enter your code and press the lock symbol again to unlock in Guest mode. I love that it comes in its own case but wish the attached and tethered USB cable was a little longer. Great device, very impressed and will buy another if needed.

This unit is exactly what we needed -- a secure way to store our client's data in transit, without requiring any special software or training to use once it's setup. The instructions for setup could be a little more straightforward (more step-by-step pictures, more explanation in each step, and less table-heavy info) since many of the administrators who need to maintain the admin and user passwords aren't tech savvy, but that's really the only major complaint I have. The device has both an admin PIN and a user PIN, which was unexpected and is nice for limiting which users can change the PINs on the device. The quick-start guide does not actually explain the difference between the admin and user PINs, but you get the idea from reading the instructions for setting a user PIN that the admin PIN is needed for it. An additional nice security feature is that it automatically locks itself up when it's idle for about a minute. This helps guard information on the device if someone carelessly walks away from their machine while both the workstation and the drive are unlocked. The unit feels solid and well-built. Even the keypad buttons feel solid and durable. The text for the numbers is underneath the clear coat, which I hope means that wear won't reveal frequently-entered PIN digits. The USB cable is integrated, which means it's not possible to lose the cable; I just wish the cable was a bit longer, since right now the only place I can put it is right in front of the fan exhaust from my laptop. Operation for end-users is simple: 1) plug it in to a USB port; 2) wait for the red unlocked icon to show up (after the device performs a brief, automatic, self-diagnostic); 3) plug in the admin or user PIN, 4) hit the unlock button, 5) use the drive like any standard portable drive!

Rare 5 Star Review!! My review is delayed but I finally opened it and put it to use! Other reviews made me wary that the setup would be difficult but I read through the instructions once over and paid attention to the side notes w/ pics lol before attempting- everything was easy for me. I did a test file before setting my password and again everything was perfect! I copied all files from my computer and it all happened relatively quickly to my surprise! Now I got to work on the phone. I have a feeling I'll have this item with me for a long time and I'm very happy I did my research before purchasing one of these!

Packaging is nice, but when you try to change the factory password it does not work. I replaced 1 and the second one had the same issue. I returned it. IStorage does not have support. The only support I received was through Amazon.

Son lentos de lectura-escritura. Yo llegué a comprar 4 y tuve que deshacerme de ellos, son fáciles de manejar pero caros. No los recomiendo.

I bought this not minding the negative comments, but Straight out of the box, it keeps giving me an error message. Saying it needs fixing, I try to allow it to fix itself, but nothing happens. I can still use it without scanning, but I did the windows disconnect patch, and it still disconnects me every minute, so when watching a movie, it will disconnect and cut off what you are watching. I transferred all my files on this device, i hope i dont loss them in the future because of this error message and scan requirement

I bought my first one in 2021. After 3 years with no problems and finding it very easy to use, I just bought another. As back up. I'm busy copying data over to it now (see pic). I haven't got the technical expertise to comment on how secure it is and whether its encryption is all it claims to be. I can only go on what I'm reading from the blurb on Amazon. On the other hand, since it needs a password to get into it, it's better than a drive that doesn't require one. And all my data seems to be intact to date.

This is cool storage device. Not too complicated in operating. Comes with complete set manuals both inside the box and pre programmed as file inside the storage within the hard drive. Didn’t encounter concerns in creating the pin and it doesn’t lock itself when plugged in instantly after Let’s say 2 minutes. Takes good 10 or 15 minutes before goes dormant and even then is only inputting the code that puts it in functionable mode right back again.
