Looks good and is a good value for the money
Looks good. There were no damaged or missing pieces. All pieces were clearly marked and the instructions were very good. The parts fit the pre-drilled holes -- I had no problems assembling this piece. The bookcase is stable on my floor. I am happy with this purchase. I have bought products from this manufacturer before and I haven't been sorry.Regarding purchases of particle board furniture: I felt this was a good purchase for my home office. I read a lot of reviews before deciding on what to buy and I think some people don't understand this material. Particle board is both heavier and WEAKER than solid wood. That is why it is so much less expensive than a solid wood bookshelf which could easily cost 3 times as much. This means the shelves will sag if you put too much weight on them, or if the weight is not EVENLY distributed across the width of the board. The manual for this bookcase indicates the following max weightstop of bookcase 35 lbsadjustable shelves 25 lbs eachbottom shelf 40 lbsYou cannot load the shelf up with heavy stuff (including books) if you don't want the shelves to sag. Placing heavy books in the center of a 25-pound shelf will absolutely cause it to sag over time even if the books weigh less than 25 pounds because the weight is all in one place. If this is a problem, you should look for solid wood or something with metal supports under the shelves. There are youtube videos showing how some people have added solid wood framing around the particle board bookcases to strengthen them. (Not just sauder, but ikea and other manufacturer shelving -- they all have the same issues.) Personally at that point I would just pay the extra money for more expensive solid wood shelves but that's just me.Particle board does crack easily and can be damaged in shipping if the package gets dropped. The Sauder website has a link to reorder individual parts if something is missing/broken. I've been lucky and have not had to use the service. It's just a chance you take when you purchase this type of product.

Nice Quality for Price!
First, I paid extra to Amazon to have them deliver it inside my home. They allowed me to schedule a date that was convenient for me, including a time window of about 3 hours. BONUS!!! It was such a welcomed feature. The packaging was AWESOME. This is made out of pressboard, so the sturdy corner protectors and shrink-wrapped in plastic ensured there was no damage. I read the instructions and laid out all the pieces before assembly. Plus previous reviews which said to "hand screw" instead of using a drill. It is really easy to sink the screws too far if you are not careful. It comes with a nail guide to help you not mess up the finish and put the nails exactly where they go...use it! It took me about 2 1/2 hours to assemble, but I was being really careful. Everything was exactly as the detailed instructions said. If you read the directions, you will have no problems putting it together. It has a nice finish and I am very happy with my purchase. It was a great addition to my home office area. I would totally recommend it. For the price, not real wood, but very sturdy and nicely made.

Not too bad for the money
I needed a bookcase and saw this one at a local home center. It was nice looking and seemed sturdy, but their price was much higher. Thus the reason I chose Amazon to purchase. I/ve been putting this type of furniture together for a long time and found it easy to figure out and assemble. But I have some warnings for others and things to be careful about. I too found out the screws to hold the top trim to the top of the bookshelf are too long and the countersunk holes in the trim piece are set too deep. During the assembly process as per the directions, I inserted the screws only to find out they pierced the top of the bookcase. This resulted in 3 chunks, about a 1/2" in diameter breaking off. I ended up melting a wax color stick in the holes to try and blend the damage. Also, the material (laminate) covering the particle board is extremely brittle and will chip easily. Definitely not like the products of the past. Keep a wood color marker handy to cover any damage. Also, I had the slide on trim piece, (which attaches to the front of the shelves), split due to either the rail being too wide or the cut in the trim being a hair to small. I'd buy another if needed now thatI know what to look out for.

Shelves are sturdy and worth the money.
Easy to assemble! Sturdy piece of furniture and looks nice in our bedroom. Doesn’t have the look of cheap pressboard furniture. Holding a lot of my books with ease…some are heavier textbooks. The shelves are adjustable which is nice and they are heavy; not likely to bend under the weight of the books. We are very pleased with the quality for the price!

Very easy to put together.
We had moved from a two story home to a new one story home with the "Frog" room over our garage. Made it into my office and needed something to put items on, which I had run out of room for. This Bookcase works perfect for my office. It came a day earlier than expected and was very easy to put together. The color goes very well with my office desk. I measured the area where I wanted to put it, and the size was perfect.

Great Customer Service
I purchased 4 of these shelves for a loft area. They look great. The only problem was some of the parts arrived damaged. A call to Sauder customer Service resulted in immediate replacement parts. I was quite impressed.
