A great set of ears!
As an EMT, there is an added challenge when it comes to scopes. Sound quality of scopes is definitely important, but even more so when you are working in a loud environment. Listening for BP and lung sounds in the back of a diesel truck is difficult at best. A good scope is extremely important. The Master Classic II scope is by far the best scope I have used for this purpose. The amplification is extremely good, single tube design eliminates the "static" of the tubes rubbing together, and the ear pieces do a great job of blocking out ambient noise. The scope feels very well constructed, and bell has a good weight to it, which makes it easier to handle. Not to mention, that the black on black design just looks slick. As someone mentioned, the tubing is a bit tacky, but that is definitely not something worth taking a star off for.The next time my scope gets lost or "borrowed", I will definitely get myself another one of these.

Fantastic stethoscope. I am an EMT
Fantastic stethoscope. I am an EMT, and use it constantly. It survives life in the back of an ambulance, and still looks and functions like brand new. Sounds are clear, and crisp. It picks up my knuckles creaking, so I have to hold it a little differently, but that only speaks to how sensitive it is. Other than that the tube causes absolutely no distortion or noise, and is incredibly flexible. My moms Littmann she has been using for 20 years has a very stiff tube, with a perminant bend that has been in it from the packaging from day one. This one has no memory in how the tube is bend, and comes out of my bag from being coiled up like brand new.

A great stethoscope for paramedics!
I've been involved in EMS for 7 years and have used MANY different stethoscopes in that time. This stethoscope is by far my favorite. It's lightweight, not too cumbersome, and the black edition just looks sweet! The sound quality you get with this stethoscope is amazing for the price. I can hear lung sounds, heart tones, and blood pressures clear as day. If you're in the market for a new stethoscope I highly recommend this one. It's a little more pricey than some of the other standard stethoscopes, but it's a vital tool that can last you many years and in my opinion is well worth the price!

You have to pay shipping to return this product!
The most important thing to know if you want to return it to buy different one you have to pay for returning the product. I'm disappointed in Amazon because they always have free returns. The product is ok, it works well but is heavier than the one I had for the last 25 years. It's just cheaper to buy a new one than to buy parts to fix another. I bought ear pieces a few years ago and they were $18 which I thought was kinda expensive. But take a chance, just letting you know you will have to pay for return from this seller!

As good as most pros will ever need
I'm an RN and a musician, so my review may be a little different than others. I used to use and still have the Cardiology III--not a bad stethoscope either, but it was taken by accident (and later returned). I had to find a new one quickly. It was like being a carpenter w/o a hammer. I wanted to spend as little as possible and be able to hear in great detail what is going on with my patients' hearts/lungs/bowels. My hearing is technically in the 'excellent' category if the audiograms are correct, and I have to say that this stethoscope surprised me. It doesn't feel as heavy as my cardiology III, and the tubing is not as rugged, but I could hear at least as well what was going on with my patients as I could with my old one. I actually think it's a little better. I tried this one, the Master Cardiology, Classic II, and of course my old Cardio III again since it's been returned and well, I decided to keep this one. Not only does it pick up heart/lungs sounds just as well, but the ergonomics of it just feel the most natural by far. The diaphragm doesn't have any moving parts so you always know you are using it correctly without having to tap the diaphragm and annoying your ears--my ears get annoyed easily. It's also lighter and fits in my holster(something else I'd recommend!) like it was made for it. Now maybe if you are a cardiologist, the Master Cardiology or Cardiology III might be better to pick up some fairly subtle sounds that are beyond my training to depict, but this one fits me just right and I highly recommend it for any nurse and most, if not all, MDs. My weapon of choice.

Paramedic
Been my faithful companion on the ambulance for about 4 years now in a busy 911 service. I like it because I can hear breath sounds, blood pressures, and heart tones just fine. I noticed a large difference in this vs the lightweight s.e. But I did not notice a huge difference between cardiology 3 vs this one (I’ve owned all the above at one point) I’m not a pulmonologist nor am I a cardiologist so to me it does not matter as much to me to be able to diagnose heart murmurs/friction rubs/etc like you can on a cardiology 3 or higher. I have no problem hearing lung sounds/heart tones and what the general type of sound I am hearing. Works fine on kids too despite not having a pediatric side. Very effective, pretty rugged (I have had to replace the diaphragm kit once or twice but that’s a relatively expected complication for me with the abuse mine gets) no cracks in the tubing so far and if you lose this stethoscope it’s not as expensive as losing a cardiology 3, etc.

Fantastic price for a great product
Fantastic price for a great product. Used this for all my EMT classes, thru respiratory school, and now as a RT. I'm listening to every pt I see, so that literally means I've used it thousands of times, and it's always been pretty darn accurate. Of course there's better ones out there, but its hard to beat at this price point. Plus, it's very durable. I'm a germ--phobe, so it always stays in my car, and I've never had to replace any of the tubing (live in NC, and heat can get brutal in summer time). I'm going to PA school, and would continue to use it, but are required to have Cardiology III. Great buy!
