You Get What You Pay For
Last time I bought replacement blades, I went with the cheaper off-brand. Youโll notice in the picture that I made sure the pattern of the openings on the heads matched the original. I figured the originals were probably made by the same company. NOT SO. This time I bought these name-brand, and itโs a night-and-day difference. The cheaper ones occasionally caught on whiskers (rather painfully) - even brand new. With these originals, I immediately noticed I get a much closer, much cleaner shave. They even get the whiskers that grow flat on the skin that the cheap copies frequently missed. I will always by these in the future! Note: These SH-50/50 are the replacements for the HQ8.

Verify the blades are installed correctly
First of all, my razor had "Replace with Philips SH50 Heads" printed on the back of the razor, opposite side of the on/off button. I opened the razor, removed the carriage by lightly turning the center lock counter clock wise, removed it, then replaced the 3 blades. Reassembled the carrier and started shaving. I noticed a light vibration while shaving - indicating something wasn't right. I opened the razor and removed the carrier again. I then realized I had one of the 3 cutting blades was upside down. I flipped it over and installed the carrier again. It now shaves perfectly and very smooth, just like it did when it was new! The best razor I have ever owned.

OE; exact fit. Perhaps a little better than knock blades; 2+ times the price.

Not sure what happened, but... FAIL
A few weeks back I "Cheaped out" and purchased the aftermarket blades for my razor, with predictable results. So... I sent them back and purchased the OEM / Factory Blades. WOW, was I in for a (BAD) surprise! The blades I received looked EXACTLY like the aftermarket blades, (NOTE: My OEM blades have a purple spindle, these have a black one), and they did not perform very well. NOT a close shave at ALL! But I opted to try them for at least a week... Today, we went in to shave, and the blades simply "Locked up", and would not turn. I can only assume one of the blade-ends was getting stuck in the protective guard? I can open the lid and the motor spindles turn freely, so nothing else is affected. I took the blades out, cleaned everything, and tried again. It worked for 1.5 minutes and locked up again. I pulled them out and sent them back to Amazon for a refund. I have neither the time nor the patience to deal with cheap garbage products. NOTE: I kept my OEM blades, so I reinstalled them in my razor. It is working fine, but still gives a dull-blade shave. Do yourself a favor... If this is where Norelco has landed, just don't bother. Go ahead and purchase a new razor elsewhere. The replacement blades simply aren't what they used to be.
