Adorable Fun Book
This is fantastic! I got one for my niece. It’s a darling story about a birthday party. The postman is delivering the mail to well known characters. There are actual letters in envelopes the child can pull out and read. It is a beautifully made book and is a perfect gift for a child especially for an 8th birthday! Kids love it and it inspires them to write letters, too!

I loved this book as a child and was so excited ...
I loved this book as a child and was so excited to share it with my own two children. My younger child (2.5) has loved the concept of the mailman and mail truck forever and has newly become obsessed with fairy tales, and boy did he fall in love with this book! It follows the Jolly Postman about his day as he visits various fairy tale characters and delivers their mail -- which you get to open up and really remove from pages that are envelopes. There is so much detail here in the illustrations and the witty text in each letter. This book is truly enjoyable on so many levels. My toddler mostly reads the main text and loves opening the mail. He pretends to deliver it to each character. My 5 year old enjoys reading each letter with me The letters are so funny! The Big Bad Wolf hears from an attorney, who threatens to send all the king's horses and all the king's men after him if he does not vacate Grandma's cottage. This is by far not a board book and we've had one small tear from my younger child -- just plan to keep an eye on it with younger children but the content is absolutely accessible to them. The language is a bit British in places but easily understood by young children in the US and a good opportunity to help them build comprehension and vocabulary. I would highly recommend this for ages 2 and up.

Such a fun book! Lots of childhood memories being revived...
My sister and I had this book as children, but I think it was smaller. This printing of the classic, The Jolly Postman, is large...approximately 9x12 inches. The story follows a happy little postman as he goes about his day, delivering letters to various people in Storybook Land. The best part? Every other page is actually an envelope containing the mail described in the story! There is a friendly letter, an advertisement, a postcard, an invitation, and more. It is tons of fun to open "other people's letters" as the subtitle implies. And there is the sneaky bonus of teaching kids about the different types of mail.I find the pages and the mail to be as sturdy as can be expected from a book. The paper is thick and feels like it will hold up to years of careful handling. We are treating this book as a special book, one that is to be handled especially nicely. I would not just hand this to a child who has never been taught how to handle books carefully and expect the letters to last long, but it should hold up just fine if it's handled nicely.Buy this for your kids...it is SO wonderful! The illustrations are sweet and bright, the story is clever, and the "mail" is something your children will remember well into adulthood...my sister and I did!

Great teaching tool!
Wow! I am super impressed by the creativity of the authors. I love picture books and as a teacher I’m always adding to my collection. We are starting a friendly letter wring unit and this book is perfect at showing the different types of letters and purposes. This is now one of my favorites!

Fun book that makes a great gift
I purchased this book as a gift for my nieces because it was my favorite book as a kid. I still have my original copy (no way I'm giving it up!) that I received when I was about 8 years old. It was a present given to me since my mom worked as a postal carrier. The book itself is creative, imaginative, and fun! It's interactive because there are actual letters and mail that you can read (the cleverest is the advertisements for witchy products). Even the addresses are fun! The main story is written in rhyme. Each letter tells a little backstory or epilogue to some classic fairy-tales. It's definitely a book that can be enjoyed again and again and that kids can have fun reading on their own.
