InAir E-Z Build B-17 Flying Fortress Model Kit (Red)

High quality and easy for my son,m age 7, to construct. Very nice model that he can display on his bedroom shelves. Highly recommend.

Easy and quick to put together for a younger child. Durable enough to be played with by children but nice enough to display. The plane is a good way to teach history to the great grandchildren of WWII vets.

I have a more complex model kit of another airplane I plan to assemble this winter, so I wanted a simple, but substantial model of the B-17. The InAir® E-Z Build™ Scale Model Kit is not a perfect model in general, but it is perfect for my needs.As it sits on its stand, the overall effect is just fine. I can move any of the three gun turrets, I can twirl or set the propellers at any angle I want, and I can have the landing gear down or tucked away in the wings and fuselage, respectively.Closer inspection can show the model’s flaws. Some of the seams have small gaps, and they aren’t necessarily equal from one side to the other, such as where the wings attach to the fuselage. The landing gear flips up into slots, but aren’t hidden when folded up. The tail landing gear was difficult to fold out and down to use it in the wheels-down configuration. The two halves of the already assembled fuselage don’t match perfectly. They do show a gap and slightly uneven seams on the underside and on top. But, just like the brush strokes of a fine art painting, anybody looking closely enough to notice the model’s issues is missing the point. It’s a small, snap-together model, already marked for display. In that role, it does its part.I had seen write-ups that mentioned putting the model together might take about 10 minutes. Without pushing for speed, I started a timer (counting up from zero) before I opened the box, took out the pieces as I assembled the airplane, and finally put the assembled airplane on its stand. I pressed the button to stop the timer at 6 minutes and 12 seconds.If you want a display model of the B-17 to sit on your desk or hang from the ceiling (your own extra parts needed for hanging) and you don’t want to pay an arm and a leg for it, this model might be right for you.Approximate assembled dimensions:Length: 8-3/4”Height from bottom of belly turret to top of tail, wheels up: 3”Wingspan: 12-5/8”Height from surface with wheels down: 2-3/8”Height on stand: 5-1/4”

This is a piece of junk. One wing doesn’t fit tightly and it doesn’t fit on the stand at all. Don’t waste your money.

We loved this unit! Sturdy, fun to assemble and my son couldn't be more thrilled.

Not what I was expecting but it ill work for a gift.

This is a great model. I bought this for a WWII vet who flew 39 missions as a B17 gunner. It's very well done and if you do not expect museum quality for this crazy low price, you will be very happy!

I actually purchased this plastic model for use as a cake topper for my Dad's Mighty 8th Air Force WWII themed 90th birthday party. It was easy to assemble and a great size for a 4-tier cake topper. Typical of Amazon.com, it was shipped in a timely manner and per my instructions directly to the baker who was making the cake. I never have to worry when I do business with Amazon.com.
