A well made and useful product.
I bought this to maneuver my dual axle 12,000lb rated 20' PJ Equipment trailer into a extremely tight spot next to my shop. The empty trailer weight is 3240lbs with a tongue weight of 420lbs. These weights were verified on a certified CAT scale at a local truck stop.My gate opening is only 8 inches wider than the trailer and the parking area along side of my shop is only 18 inches wider than the trailer. I have a solid fence on one side and the side of the shop on the other. I cannot get a straight shot into the parking area or the gate as I have to make a 30 degree turn at the front edge of the shop. The gate is setback from the front of the shop by 8 feet and the solid fence runs along one entire side. So it is TIGHT, TIGHT, TIGHT. I do not have enough room to maneuver the trailer into this spot with any vehicle or even my tractor. To make matters even worse, the initial approach to my parking spot was on a concrete driveway but that transitions to landscape rock (about 1" - 1.5" in size) that was placed over landscape fabric. Also the parking area is not flat but is sloped (about 6" drop in 10') away from the shop just to make things more challenging. After researching different dollies - especially the electric motor units (around $2,000!) I stumbled across the Trailer Valet. I was torn between this model - the 5X which is rated at 5,000lbs and the XL which is rated at 10,000lbs.After reading different reviews and looking at YouTube videos I decided to give the 5X model a try. If it did not work out I would return it and buy the XL.Assembly took only minutes, which consisted on bolting the mounting bracket to the front tongue of the trailer using 4 bolts. I checked the tire pressure to make sure they were at 85psi, and they were. I was a bit concerned as my 420lb trailer tongue weight was close to the 500lb max rating of the 5X Trailer Valet. I should not have been. The dual tires on the 5x hardly bulged.I inserted the crank handle onto the upper driveshaft, lifted the steering/brake lever and started cranking away. I was amazed at how little effort was required to move the trailer. My daughter could easily move this trailer using the Trailer Valet. I did find that it was much easier to move the steering handle while the wheels were turning, but a couple of times I did have to move it while stopped since I was not perfectly lined up (kind of hard to do when you have to make a perfect arc to clear the building, fence and gate).I also thought that it might be a really awkward to have to stoop over to crank on the crank handle, while holding up the steering/brake lever and then trying to maneuver the trailer, but it was really easy to do. Having the auto-brake on the 5x was also a good idea (the brake is engaged until you lift up on the steering/brake lever), as I would crank for a little bit then have to go check the back corners of the trailer to see how much clearance I had or how I needed to maneuver the trailer and since the trailer is on a bit of a side-slope it would move a inch or so till the brake engaged.I did find that when the 5X tires went off the concrete and onto the landscaping rock that the tires would spin and not move the trailer if the tires on the 5X were slightly turned. I anticipated this possible problem and solved it by putting down a couple of scrap pieces of 3/8" of OSB (or plywood) for the tires on the 5X to roll on. I moved the trailer about 25 feet on the OSB without issue. All in all, I think this product is GREAT!

Jealous I didn't invent the Trailer Valet
It was a perfect solution to my situation. I have only a few inches clearance width and lengthwise between boat and garage. It was difficult to back in attached to the truck. The valet was exactly what I was looking for. I had been conceiving making a small electric winch "tug" to pull my boat into the garage. That required a battery or AC power and a remote control with limited range either wireless or tethered. I wanted simple and effective. Kept kicking ideas around but then while browsing the internet I ran across the trailer valet. That was it ;search was over. I wish I had invented this thing. So simple, well thought out and designed. The materials are heavy gauge and runs on person power no need for electricity. Has a low and high gear with a braking mechanism when you lower the tiller arm. Can steer it in close quarters with enough power to go up inclines. It allows slow controlled movement in and out of the garage. I can take the boat out of the garage directly to the trailer hitch wo multiple attempts like what normally happens when backing the truck to the trailer. I read reviews before purchasing and many people said it corrodes easily but they were leaving it on the trailer. Obviously driving cross country subjected to the elements everything corrodes. But for me I simply remove it from the trailer and leave it in the garage only attaching it when needed. It was about $350 but I love it - solved my situation beautifully!

Worked very well, 2500 lbs popup & inclined driveway. with updates
Update 1 year inGiven that amazon reviews are questionable these days I felt the need to update this review 1 year in. Having used this about a dozen times overall it still works very well. I do not store it outside, or keep it attached to the popup so it has never seen any rain. It also loses air rather quickly and will not work if not fully inflated. So make sure to check the air often.Overall I would not be able to park my popup in my garage without this device. It is a life saver.Original ReviewHonestly, I am not sure what is up with all the negative reviews. I read every one and I was hesitant to buy this given how expensive it was, but it has worked well for me so far. Background: Needed it to move a 2500 lbs popup trailer with below 300 tong weight. My driveway is narrow in the front and wide in the back and is on an incline rising about 6 ft over the 30 ft driveway. It is steep enough that I am not able to push the trailer up the incline myself and I am not good enough to back up the trailer well either. My driveway is concrete.Setup: I was able to install the Trailer Valet in 30 minutes and it was easy to figure out how to use.Use: It was able to push my trailer up the driveway without an issues. I was also able to maneuver the trailer from the middle of the driveway to one side. I have only moved it about 5 ft, but it did that job well.Other comments- I was only able to use the slow torque crank, driveway was too steep for the fast moving one.- I was easily able to move my 2500 lb trailer up my driveway by myself.- In the brake position Trailer Valet held my popup from rolling back down my driveway.- Tires came with the correct inflation.- Valet seems to be well constructed.- The Valet was more then strong enough to raise and lower my trailer.- Attaching and removing the Valet was easy.Cons- The high speed lower crank is to low to be of any practical use- It takes some getting used to. You may want a 2nd person to hold the trailer the first time you disengage the brake.- The bolt hardware is not galvanized, which would be preferred for any outdoor application.Overall I am happy with this purchase and I had no issue installing it on my popup, even though my tong is quite full with a wireless brake controller and anti sway hitch. The Valet will not fit in stowed mode on my trailer, but I had no intention of keeping it attached when not in use. I would not want to tow all that extra weight on my tong.

Great product, solved my problem, fully satisfied!
TLDR: reliable, works well, easy to use, shipped faster than promised.Excellent product. I have a heavy (2600 lbs dry) pop up trailer I can’t move by hand alone. To save on storage and ensure a dry, safe and secure winter, i’ve stored it in my garage. The trailer is 7’6” wide and the garage door is just under 8” wide. With 3” of clearance on either side, precision is essential. Near impossible with a vehicle , especially with a steeply inclined driveway.Enter the Trailer Valet. It’s sturdy, simple, easy to install and use as well as safe. With a bit of help from a friend directing movement, I backed the trailer as close as possible with my vehicle. After unhitching, I affixed the trailer valet to the bracket and within 5 minutes, the 17’ trailer was snuggly stowed with surgical precision. No bumps, no scrapes, no issues. I didn’t even break a sweat! I was expecting to huff and puff but unless you need to move the trailer over several hundred feet of inclined terrain, the Trailer Valet is a breeze to operate and requires very little effort, especially in low gear. While not a cheap tool by any measure, the outdoor storage savings will add up and I expect to break even by year 3. What’s more, the trailer is secure, dry and accessible to me since it’s in my garage. That’s value I can’t put a price on but between the potential costs and headaches of water/ice/snow/weather damage, theft or vermin infestation issues that this solution avoids, I’ve already recouped the cost of the Trailer Valet in my ledger.I also use it when the trailer is in my driveway during camping season. Snugged up against the garage to maximize parking space most of the time, I take out the Trailer Valet to back it out to allow opening when I need to get inside to pack, clean or otherwise access the trailer. When i’m done, a 30 second wind up and the trailer is back against the garage. No hitching up, no messing around. In and out in the time it take to open and close the trailer. Finally, on the campsite, there’s no need to back in and out over and over to park on just the right spot. Roughly positioned while hitched up the my vehicle, I unhitch and attach the Trailer Valet. In a matter of minutes I’ve perfectly parked the trailer where I want it without blocking the access road or repeatedly backed in and out (feeling embarrassed as the neighbours watch bemused at my sorely lacking trailer backing skills). If you have a trailer you need to futz with (and who’s trailer doesn’t need futzing once in a while) and you want a simple, elegant solution for parking, moving and precisely maneuvering it, the Trailer Valet is the best bang for your buck. Multiple trailers can be accommodated with multiple brackets. The product is well built and shipper faster than promised. Unless you need to go further than 50 to 100 feet at a time, don’t bother with the drill attachment. However, I could see it being quite useful when you have multiple trailers or a long way to go.Bottom line: a great product that works as advertised and solves a multitude or problem for a reasonable price. I did a lot of tease arch and this is the cheapest, reliable solution. A powered dolly is far too expensive and and the electric wheel jacks I found online were sketchy looking at best and poorly reviewed across the board.

Look no further if you want a quality product that simply gets the job done.
Absolutely the best thing for anyone wanting to move a trailer under 5000 pounds. Hands down, this tough little jewel has saved me so much grief that I recommend it to anyone looking for a way to move a trailer without straining themselves. I cannot say enough good about this unit and I rely on it so much I hope it never gives up on me. I would really be stuck if it did, and that would be an understatement. The low gearing is excellent and always gets the job done. The brake feature is reliable and a must when working a trailer.I did a lot of research and if you want results, no grief or headaches, don't waste your time on anything else.
