Good info for beginners
The only thing that I did not like that the book was not a hard cover book.

I'm a reader so I like a good 'keeper' reference book.
I like the 'for dummies' books. I like their ease of understanding and I like their pictures. I always am able to practice the subject I'm learning after reading. So happy with this book.

Came torn
The cover came torn at the top. Other than that it looks to be in good condition..

I love this book!
I love this book so much. Mr. Strong clearly has a lot of experience. He inserts enough humor so that it doesn’t read so much like a textbook. He really gets down to the basics and provides a lot of advice on equipment and tools. My father was a master woodworker, but I did not get bit by the woodworking bug until after he had passed away. This will be a very useful reference in setting up my shop.

Great book, a must have
Very well written how-to guide. Easy to read, and understand. Truly a book for the beginner. Project suggestions and plans were easy to read. My only “complaint”, the pictures/images are not as helpful as those in other books I’ve read. But, this is really just being nit-picky. I would definitely recommend this book to any beginner woodworker. Can be a big help to have in your “toolbox”.

Got me started on an entirely new passion
This book gave me the broad and specific overviews I needed to launch into an entirely new passion during the beginning of the Pandemic last year. Great resource to return to over and over again.

OK book, few pictures, intro to basic skill level
This book is an OK start. Not a lot of pictures of the projects. The colored panels of the wood species is OK, but not very useful. This guy *REALLY* likes his biscuit joints. It like he's a cheer leader for them. Got tiring after a while. The table saw section is poor, misses a lot of information on the most important machine in your shop (zero clearance inserts, what makes a good fence.. etc).Does not really cover finishes that much.. touches on them but the most important part of any project after construction is the finish and again, very limited, basic information is given. Not a terribly bad book, but not a great one. Good buy used for abut $8-10.One SMALL nit pick - on the cover, there are many errors with regard to safety: long sleeves, wearing jewelry... even if all you are doing is gluing joints that stuff should come off at the door.

Generally good intro.
A good reasonable introduction to the subject. Although I took woodwork as an exam subject in my youth (and got a good pass grade) there is always something to relearn or discover. Only one small niggle, it was of course written for the North American market so in your mind, do a global replace of timber for the word lumber if you are a UK reader like me!Also, there is a limit to how much a craft book can do. It can't tell you how a plane feels to use, or what the resistance of a well honed chisel feels like as it cuts into the wood. You have to discover these fine experiences for yourself.

Good explanations but need more pictures and diagrams
Good explanations but need more pictures and diagrams. It's hard to learn such a practical subject like woodworking from a book, but this at least gives you a few ideas and introduces you to the terminology and some of the basic ideas in woodworking.

Hmmmm
To be honest, I wish I never purchased this book, although it has some handy tips, it could have done with more diagrams
