BEST PAINT EVER!
This paint is amazing! I'm an artist/painter with over 20 years of experience using multiple types of paint, and hands down General Finishes Milk Paint has become my go to paint for furniture and cabinetry! It has the ease of use properties of traditional milk paint(little to no surface prep, superior paint leveling, goes on easily), but with the smooth, hard finish of a more durable alkyd paint. The antique white is a beautiful creamy tone(appears slightly more yellow during application but dries to a perfect creamy white!). To achieve the right finish and color consistency, it does take take 3 light coats for me with foam roller/brush combo(on lighter surfaces, but 4 coats usually on darker surfaces), but the ease of applying it and quick dry time makes it so worth it! It has the most beautiful, barely there sheen when it dries to it's beautiful hard finish! Topped with General Finishes Top coat, it is a durable, hard wearing finish for cabinetry and other pieces that are frequently used. I recently also used it on a brass chandelier to give it a farmhouse finish(i did prime the metal first), as a wash over a tumbled marble backsplash and also on a painted brick floor update, all with the same amazing results! Try this paint...follow the directions for application, and you will fall in love as I have!

Pricey, but worth it!
After reading lots of reviews on various brands of chalk paint, milk paint, etc., I chose this paint in antique white. I refinished a dresser and chest. I did end up using a primer because the original stain kept coming through. However, after doing that, this went on great. First, the directions say to use foam brushes and rollers. They are super cheap and make clean up a breeze because you just toss them. Second, this paint levels itself out. No weird brush strokes, just a nice finish. Third, the color is perfect. If you look at it, you'd assume it's white. It's not a stark white, but it also doesn't have that yellow to it that an off-white would have. Fourth, it's easy to use. I've never really redone a piece of furniture and been that successful, so if I be successful with this, anyone can. Especially now knowing that a quick coat of primer, two coats of paint, and a top satin coat is all it takes, I think the process would be even easier and faster. We purchased the Java stain to do the tops of each piece and the satin top coat. To be honest, both pieces turned out so well that I impressed myself. Lol! I've gotten a lot of compliments on both pieces because they don't look like something that I redid myself, the finish is so nice and even that they look like they were purchased that way. I recently redid another dresser in the snow white. It turned out fine, but the color didn't seem to be as great of a product as the antique white.

Easy to use with nice results
This milk paint sticks better than most low VOC paint. If you have older woodwork and you donโt want to spend tons of time scrubbing and sanding to prep this is a good paint to try. Oils, waxes, smoke, cooking grease droplets in the air, will do strange things to paint (Iโve learned the hard way) but this paint goes on beautifully with minimal brush marks. It sands easily and still has a nice finish after sanding with a fine grit paper.Iโve noticed that although this paint doesnโt require a topcoat and has a nice matte sheen after 3 coats, on areas that get more frequent use applying General Finishes High Performance TopCoat over the final coat does prevent chipping. The photos posted of a dresser painted 5 years ago. With heavy daily use the areas with no HPTC have chipped and scratched but the top with 3 coats of HPTC looks great (and no yellowing!). I used a SATIN HPTC by General Finishes which gave the top too much shine, but thereโs a HPTC in flat now so I plan to repaint the entire chest and topcoat it.

First In Itโs Class
Best Furniture Paint Ever!!! I have been a GF user for over 20+ years. Nothing like it. Great for those who are intimidated by painting, first timers, etc. Gives a Flawless finish without brush strokes! I highly recommend this paint. You will never use anything else. Their sealers and top coats are Excellent as well. I used their waterproof top coat for a dining table top and itโs been on 16 years and still Great!!!

Looks beautiful!
This paint is well worth the extra money. It applies nicely, dries quickly, and the color is really beautiful. I cleaned the cabinets with a degreaser, then denatured alcohol. Some reviewers reported they didn't sand prior to painting. That may be true, but I wanted to make sure there was good adherence of the paint. My cabinets are not exactly stellar quality. I didn't over do it, just lightly sanded. Do not judge the outcome by the first coat. I did this with a brush and could see every stroke and coverage was not great. I applied the remaining coats with a foam roller. I was very pleased after the second coat. I did 4 total coats. The paint dries very quickly. Around 30 minutes. But I did wait longer in between coats. I was definitely skeptical about painting over wood, but I am so glad I did it. Time consuming, but a budget friendly way to update your kitchen!

Awesome color, but PRIME first even though it says you don't have to!
I am a big fan of General Finishes, and use Java Gel for my fine art pieces as well as home improvement projects. This was my first time using the milk paint line, and I have mostly good feelings about it. First, the antique white color is nothing short of "yummy." It's a really lovely french vanilla ice cream shade of white, not too much yellow, just enough warmer than bright white to be comforting. My first use of the antique white was on a large china cabinet that was previously a strange walnut-over-oak finish from the 1960s. I took the can of paint at it's word and did not prime. I did lightly scuff up the surface by hand sanding. I should have primed. It took SIX coats of paint to cover the cabinet, plus an additional 3 coats of top coat (which I love). I thought I would NEVER get that cabinet painted. I used 2 quarts on one cabinet and had to return to the store and buy 2 more quarts for the table and chairs that match the cabinet. That said, now that it's finally done, it's gorgeous. I did have one chipping incident, but I hit the surface pretty hard on accident with one of the doors as I was trying to hang it. And, it takes 30+ days to fully cure, so I'm not panicking at this point.I was a lot smarter about the table and chairs... I refinished the table top in my favorite - the Java Gel - and then painted the legs and chairs with the antique white.... but this time I primed them all thoroughly with white rustoleum spray paint before painting. I only needed 2 coats of the antique white after priming instead of 6 (!!), though some of the surface did crack and require touch-up. I also used a paint sprayer to cover the chairs, and this paint sprays very nicely straight from the can. My furniture looks just gorgeous, and I had someone ask me when and where I got my new dining room set already, so it's been worth the headache. I plan to use snow white to refinish my kitchen cabinets this week. However, I will be thoroughly sanding and priming. Bottom line - no matter what the can says for any paint, sand and prime. You just can't get the best adhesion and result without it.

Great Product
Fast delivery, great quality, easy to apply. This paint is thick and goes a long way. I tested a small section on my hutch without prepping (sanding) and it looked great. I proceeded to repaint my China cabinet after sanding. Originally, I was going to leave the front brown, but decided against it. It looked unfinished, plus I had so much paint leftover, so might as well use it!In my opinion, the paint looked more white rather than Antique white against my existing Antique white furniture so I had to try to darken a tad. I had some brown stain, applied that over my finished product and I definitely received the result I was looking for. I applied 3 coats of the Antique white Milk Paint, (didn't do the top or back) and I have a less than a quart left. I'm ready to paint the top and get another quart to repaint a few other pieces! I am very pleased with my purchase!

love it!
General Finishes Milk Paint is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. I've bought 4 cans (different colors and projects). I love the how it goes smoothly and dries with a nice finish and a slight sheen. I found it does help to dip my brush tip in water every so often, just to thin it a bit. Dries quickly. I also really like that it has great coverage... with this particular can (quart size antique white) I've painted 3 large wooden rocking chairs and still have a small amount left. I've heard that it's not necessary to seal GF milk paint and I haven't - so far all the pieces I've done have held up well and it saves the step of sealing.
