However, they were quick to respond, stating they had checked with the manufacturer and indeed the back up thermometer was set to Fahrenheit only. An apology, offered a full refund or another forehead/ear thermometer to act as my backup and even a little gift by way of an apology for the inconvenience. Mistakes happen, but this is the kind of customer service that should be recognised. Thank you.I chose this over others as it had good ratings and included a small traditional thermometer as a backup. The main ear/forehead thermometer works albeit with variations as described by the manufacturer. However the small backup thermometer is tied permanently to Fahrenheit. It clearly has the capacity to display in centigrade but I defy anyone to decipher how from the instructions and successfully change. Even if you follow the very poorly written instructions it cannot be changed. Disappointing. If sent to Europe, default to centigrade. The size of it was very apt to use. It gives instant reading for both body and items. Very Clear display. Temperature font is very clear and big enough to read from distance too. Very accurate reading. I will recommend it to anyone. It displays the image of ear and head to say if its a forehead reading or ear temperature. It comes with tongue thermometer which can be used as alternative.
