Works well, and blends nicely with my brushed nickel shower heads. The collar gives a lot of flow adjustment. When I replaced our shower heads I removed the water restrictions because water is easy to come by in Florida - but didn't consider how fast two double headed showers can drain a hot water heater..Four stars because first one went on great but the second snapped while tightening. I didn't do anything unusual to it, it is just plastic after all, but probably just a defective molding because the first felt and went on very solid. I wasn't at all deterred from filing an exchange rather than return. It's cheap so Amazon is sending me new one without requiring a return of the broken one. If I had three showers I'd buy a third one. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ A great little cost-saving item *by G***R on Reviewed in the United States on December 2, 2015* I recently picked one of these little guys up after doing an exhausting search for an adjustable water flow restrictor. It turned out that this item was worth the purchase.First, there are virtually no adjustable units available out there. They are either fixed at 1 or 1.5 gpm which is a little anemic for my life. I possess a 50-year old Moen shower head that has both adjustable shower pattern plus the ever-so-nice massage function. At full-on flow it can act like a 1/2-inch water pipe with nothing connected to the end. I personally don’t have a problem regulating the flow when I take a shower but receive mild complaints from others that they run out of hot water in a few minutes. And this is with a 50-gallon water heater!! They obviously crank the water on at full flow which is nearing 8 gpm.This item is fabricated with a main body made of plastic and an outer adjustment collar that appears to be made of of thin metal. But the ad indicates that it is "chrome-plated ABS" (plastic). Plastic is nice but can be delicate if not properly respected. It appears that it is capable of supporting my heavier shower head and subsequent position adjustments by the users.Others who have reviewed it stated that they would adjust the flow and then “lock” it into place. There is no “lock" on this item I purchased. Rather, if any water baby who needs to immerse themselves in a full waterfall flow finds the restrictor in place, they can simply readjust it to their normal desire. The fix for that is either a few drops of super glue between the adjustment collar and the restrictor body once the proper flow rate has been established or a small dab of plastic-capable epoxy in the same place.Installation is easy. And, yes, the complaints of others that it may “leak” are true. That was expected with the threads made of plastic. The other complaint was that it did not come with a roll of Teflon tape to seal the leaks. I find that a moot point given the $1 to $1.50 cost of a roll of tape and how much this little thing will save you in terms of water and heating energy bills in the months ahead. Besides, the tape is useful for many other plumbing jobs around the home if you don’t already possess a roll.One other reviewer mentioned that you shouldn't use tools to tighten it when installing. I agree. As I mentioned earlier, plastic is not as strong as metal. In addition, if anyone has an idea of installing this item before the valve assembly on a kitchen sink or some different application like that, it shouldn't be done. You must remember that you are working with plastic here and it is subject to possible failure. It is better to have this device fail while you are in attendance after turning the water on rather than come home to a house full of water that you hadn't planned for. It is made for a given purpose and alternate uses should be evaluated prior to installation.It does “sing” a bit when the flow is reduced but the sound is not objectionable. I figure that I can tolerate the low-level sound for the cost savings. I run it at slightly over 2 gpm which gives a forceful shower yet not a true water waster. And the adjustable feature lets you do what you want. In addition, the plastic construction is rather nice since it will not cause terrible mineral buildup or internal corrosion as compared to a metal counterpart.Cost wise I always complain about the high price of plastic items. But, after all, we are at the mercy of the manufacturers and middlemen when it comes to our purchases. And add to this that adjustable flow restrictors of this type are rather unbotainum. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Pretty Slick! *by R***R on Reviewed in the United States on May 19, 2015* Added these to our arsenal of water-reducing aerators and whatnot for the worsening California drought. They work as described. Long term, I would expect them to at least last as long as the shower heads (made of the same material) they're being added to. And no, they don't leak. They're plastic and use a rubber washer, so don't use excessive force to tighten them. A little pressure against that washer is all that's needed to keep it from leaking, so do NOT use tools to install it! Use your hand to spin it on and stop applying force as soon as it's snug.As a plumber, I'd love to see these made out of solid brass, but that's not reality at under $8.00.
