Elegant Elephants Day & Night Coloring Book

I love elephants, and I've been doing "adult coloring" for decades - long before it became a fad. Choices way back when were quite limited, so it's awesome to have amazing choices these days. I'd looked at elephant coloring books here on amazon a few times over the past couple of years, but not found the perfect one -- until I saw this one! I use both gel pens and color pencils (but not usually on same page) and this day/night book is perfect -- gel pens on the "night" pages and color pencils on the "day" pages. Delightful!There are two of each design, one in "day" (white paper with black lines) and one in "night" (white lines on black). However, the designs look quite different this way, so it doesn't "feel" like you are coloring the same design twice. They are in the book in the same order, with the day pages all in front and the night pages all in back. The pages are single sided. The paper is sadly below what I prefer, but usable. The number of designs make up for it, so no docking of stars. It’s a publisher issue.. The pages are NOT perforated, and seem bound in pretty securely - a plus for people like me, a minus for those who like to display their work.Each page has lots of detail, and interesting, flowing, designs. I included a few examples (as I had hoped to see some myself when I was shopping for a book).

This is fabulous.

This artist creates very pretty, flowing type designs. This particular book has both regular images and then the same ones printed on a black background. Both types are pretty, but the black background images are probably my favorite here. The colors really pop. I do agree with other reviews that the paper could be better quality, but for the price you really get a lot to color. I use water based markers, gel pens, and pencils so the single sided paper works fine for me. Plus, some of the proceeds benefit the animals themselves. Win/win.

It’s a nice coloring book. The pages are a little thin, but easy enough to stop markers from bleeding through. I love that it has regular pages and pages that have a black background. The pictures are fantastic. Not too tiny, but just right for markers or pencils.

I love the artwork of Marjorie Sarnat, and enjoy the whimsical style of her coloring books very much... Marjorie has a wonderful Facebook group, “Marjorie Sarnat’s Creative Coloring”, where you can share your colored images of Marjorie’s designs, or see how others are coloring them. The pictures in this book are all gorgeous and it’s a fun twist to have both the white backgrounds along with the black. My only complaint is the paper is far too thin for alcohol markers without significant feathering and bleeding. But watercolor markers, gel pens and colored pencils work fine. Highly recommend.

I love her books so far I’ve done playful pets, the kitten and cat books and the Christmas one thoroughly enjoyed them and this one is just as great. Can’t wait to start it. Love that half of them are on a black background might start it before the puppies one.
