The looks are fairly small in size (expected) and the part I found very nice about the pack was it is extremely quiet
If you read my blog on the items I typically keep in my pack titled "What's in your PACK?" then this might be a slight follow up to that as I needed a new pack to take with me. So, since it being so close to hunting season when I purchased the bag and I wasn't looking for something that would be more than carrying the essentials the bag I chose was the ALPS OutdoorZ Crossbuck Hunting Pack.Reason I chose this bag was for the purpose that I wanted a smaller backpack that would fit the essentials for a morning or evening hunt with notion of coming into camp for lunch. Out of the box I was fairly surprised by the size of the pack. The looks are fairly small in size (expected) and the part I found very nice about the pack was it is extremely quiet. At this point, I have used the pack outdoors twice now, Saturday morning and Sunday morning. So as for the overall size, it certainly is small, though I did fit pretty much everything I needed in the pack. Though, again it is just for the basics not really an all day hunting pack. I was able to get my essentials in the pack, along with binoculars, my quiver, three of my deer calls, bow hanger, small hand saw for any small limbs and about every version of rope you can imagine. At this point the pack was fairly full, though still getting it on wasn't an issue and hauling was simple.Once up in the tree, the zippers were certainly quiet and the little loops included with it helped wonders. Though, it did take a little bit of two handed holding to unzip or fully zip up depending on the angle I was at. Not a big deal, but enough to worth of note. The straps seem fairly well made this and there are extra buckles all over for securing around the chest or with the side ones, was able to strap to my tree stand so I didn't need to use a bow holder to hold the bag.Overall the pack worked well, though at the end of the day, I like having just a bit more room in the bag as most times I always endup wanting to bring additional items that at this point will not fit. So I think as the season moves forward, my daughter that hunts with me sometimes will inherit this bag and I'll then get the next size up bag. As I think, this bag works well for 99% of what I needed, there's always that piece that I'll need and want to stuff in my pack the morning I'm heading out.

This pack is worth every penny!
I LOVE THIS PACK. It is soft as can be, causing much less sound, if any, while stalking. I do archery and I have no problems at all drawing my bow while wearing this pack. The zippers and soft cords and will not make a sound when being jossled around. all the extras on this pack helps me strap my spotting scope and many other things, I have even strapped my bow to it while hiking up the mountain to give my hands a break, worked perfectly. The side mesh pockets are a great added bonus for bringing that extra bottle of water or two. In some of the reviews it mentioned that this pack was a little small. Well, I am 6" 11" and 220 lbs. It is not small at all. I can pack this thing for day trips and even 2 or 3 day if needed. It will hold anything and everything that I need for a great hunt. I have never owned this brand before and I have hiked with different packs all over the mainland and overseas for years, I am very pleased with this purchase. Since the quality is so good, I do not know if I will but, If I ever do need another hunting pack, I will defiantly buy this brand again.

You can use this for a hiking day pack and it should do just fine, for a hunting pack it's not convenient.
First look, I thought I wouldn't need any other pack, I was going to give this 5 stars out the gate, I couldn't wait to start using it andThe material is not a noisy nylon like most other packs it's quiet and barely makes any noise when rubbed against anything. It has large storm flaps over the zippers so I know the only way for water to get in is me drowning it or I have to leave the zippers open and even then water may not get in. The large pockets are perfect for storing all my gear and here is where the stars start falling off the rating. There is one large zipper pocket in the back, no issues here, it holds a good amount. The middle zipper pocket has a few some small partitions inside however there is nothing stopping whatever I put in these pockets from falling out. The last thing I need is to go looking for my knife, lighter, or haul line in the pitch black or with little light and everything is tangled together. Having a way to secure the smaller items is key. There is a small pouch right in the front that is kept somewhat closed with a magnet, just be careful it doesn't fully close, 1/2" magnet for a 3" opening. The two mesh pouches on the side are nice but not really that useful, wouldn't plan on putting anything in those while trekking through the woods, this isn't really a big deal in my mind. So really there are only 2 good pockets. Now after using this bag for a few weeks I realized that I would struggle with the zippers, definitely not able to be opened or closed with 1 hand. Normally this isn't a problem, but when you're in a tree stand being able to use 1 hand to open your pack for your call or some food or water is key.

Great durable school backpack for kids!
Got this as a school backpack for my preschooler. It's been about 3 months now and it's still like brand new. Perfect for him to throw a water bottle in the mesh side pocket and the buckle on the side even holds the top of the water bottle so it doesnt flop around and fall out. My older son has this same backpack too, he keeps a water bottle in one side and an umbrella on the other side. He's already used his for a whole school year plus 3mo of this one and no signs of wear at all! He loves the chest clip so he can run without the straps falling down. These are great school packs, water repellant and doesn't rip out In a month or two like the cheap ones do! With the small investment!

A good hunter's day pack with some concerning issues..
Experience: I wore this pack over my hunting jacket for hours at a time over dozens of days with ~10lbs of content and in all types of weather above and below freezing. It was so comfortable, I didn't notice I was wearing it.Pros:Proper Blaze Orange in a day pack size.Comfortable wide shoulder straps. See Con below.Covered zippers keep the weather out.Lots of adjustability.Quiet soft fabric.Plenty of storage space.Cons:Shoulder strap contact points with the bag are minimal at the upper seam. Maybe 1/4 inch. While a small amount of extra stiching is applied here it isn't enough for years of use or heavy loads. I highly recommend you get heavier stiching at these contact points. It will add years of life to the bag and prevent the disappointment of strap separation while in use.The zippers are not heavy duty, rather small and a little finicky to use. This bag reminds me more of a school bag converted for use as a hunting bag.

Great little pack
Love the alps outdoor material and zippers. I’ve had an alps bag for years and no issues with it. Just added this one to my hunting gear. Other bags have gotten destroyed in the bush and zippers have broken. Alps holds up to use and abuse. Highly recommend

Really small
This is a sturdy little backpack, but I do mean little. It only has one main pocket and one flat outer pocket, and its overall size is much smaller than I was expecting. I wanted something to wear to the grocery store, and this barely has enough room for my purchases. It would be a decent enough size for a child, but not for a full-grown adult.

Great hunting pack.
Great for hunting. Zippers are very difficult to use even with pull tabs until you fold up the zipper cloth cover. Magnetic close pouch was great storage for my headlamp. Quick easy and secure. Colour is perfect for hun hunting season. No loss of safety.
