Fabulous easy installation. I bought 2 after reading every review on here for the different ones. I liked the sturdy metal construction and the ease with which it operates. The little foot on the bottom of the gate can flip on either side downward to make the swing of the gate the way you need it to be. I used the extension on one and it was very easy to assemble. Directions and pictures were good. I do not have aggressive dogs so I didn't need to screw it to the wall I just used the pressure feet. The handle will not engage in lock until you put the tension on the wall then you'll see the handle engage with the gate and the little black button in the center pulls back to lift the handle up. That wasn't real clear in the direction so I had to. figure that out. lol

A nice pressure mount gate that suitably blocks our stairway from pets. I also bought wall disks to help hold the gate up better. Those were from another maker, bought at the same time as gate. I could have gotten by w/o them, but they are slightly grippier than the ones that came with gate.I like the extensions that came with the gate, as I needed them both. The gate is well made and easy to install. I bought a larger North States gate to cover a wider opening at the same time I bought this one, and I love them both. This mwker will be my first option for buying interior gates going forward. I'm thinking about buying 2 more of these to cover other areas. I waited until testing this one out first.One caveat, since this is a pressure installed gate, it is possible to knock through it if enough force is applied. Our larger dog has knocked it down once, but unless you use permanent brackets and screw into holding surface, that could happen with any gate like this.

This gate is awesome! We have been using the old wooden style for a long time now and I finally got fed up over having to step up and over to get from room to room. This gate was easy to assemble and is very sturdy! My favorite thing is that we didn’t have to drill holes in the wall! The only tools I used was a pair of scissors and a tape measure! Score!

These gates are pretty good until you get to the upper limit of the measurements with multiple add on sections, they start to get a bit wobbly due to the play each section adds. If you would like to save some money don't strictly follow their sizing chart. The latest opening I need to span is 53.2". Their chart calls for the gate plus their 4 bar and 2 2bar extensions. The 4 bar and 2 bar extensions are similar in price 23 for 2 bar and 28 for a 4 bar. What the chart is doing is upselling 2 of the 2 bars instead of simply 1 4 bars. Here is the sizing you should follow. Gate it's self is the range from 29.8 - 32.6. The 1 bar ads 2.7" to this range each, the 2 bar ads 5.5" to this range each, and the 4 bar adds 11" to this range for each added. So in my example if I follow their chart I would spend a little over $75 for add on pieces but if I go off the measurements for each bar set using the largest sections that will fit my measurement range (which ends up being more secure and less wobbly due to less connecting pieces) I would be buying 2 4 bar sections for $56 and saving myself right at $20. I understand making more money but don't fall for it folks. As I said great gates, have had them in 3 homes now and for many years for our kids now we are using them for the dog and they work fantastic still. Worth the money since they are not even the most expensive out there.Walk through gate is good size for an adult, locking mechanism is good and makes good fun out of fooling even some adults in its operation. Took my children till around 3-4 to figure it out only after being showed several times. Sturdy for the most part see above. It is also nice that you are able to buy add on and replacement parts for these after all these years.

*Update* I’ve had this gate up for about 2 months now and my almost 2-year-old aggressive boy literally has pushed and pulled at this gate very hard and it has stayed in place!! Great quality and hold! We have it in place with the pressure only and NO screws.So far so good. My boyfriend no problem setting the gate up and putting it together, it seems like it will hold pretty well, but time will only tell and can’t really rate it on sturdiness yet as I only had it up for a couple hours. It looks very nice and is easy to open with one hand with two quick motions, one by squeezing and pulling the button forward, which disengages the latch and then pulling the latch up. My 6 year old daughter is able to open in to get through when need and love that I won’t have to pick her up over the old gate anymore! It swings open both ways or you could put the stopper on the bottom to open in only one direction (whichever way you want) or you could put both stoppers on if you don’t want to latch the gate which would then prevent the gate door from swinging in any direction!

While assembling, a couple of the end caps were difficult to pop off for me to put on the extensions. One, in particular, took a lot of extra effort and I ended up really scratching the crap out of it. I reached out to North States to tell them the trouble I was having and they quickly responded with tips and offering to send me new caps and if I couldn't get it off to refund/send me a new one. I was able to get it off and had them send me new caps. I think I just got an unlucky one and I don't think every gate is this difficult to assemble so don't let my struggle deter you! Once I finally got it assembled it looks really great! (ignore the 1970's wallpaper...that's my next project!) It's really nice quality and I like how adjustable and customizable it is with the swing direction pieces and the locking handle. I got this to keep my small dog from sneaking to the basement and causing mischief and this is perfect!

Love this gate! We use it to keep our dog contained to a specific room when left alone.Assembly was absolutely a two-person job and even then we struggled a little until we got the hang of it. We didn't use the screws as we intend to move the gate eventually and it stays put perfectly fine. Check back on the tension rods though, as they seem to come a little loose after some time, nothing a manual tightening won't fix. We did use an extender and it still works like a dream.
