5979 Lobster Shears, Stainless Steel with Plastic Handle, 7 x 1.75 x 0.5 inches

We're in Maine and use them for lobsters. Great product.

I bought this with two other types of lobster/crab scissors to decide which of the three to give as gifts. I was introduced to crab scissors this past summer and was taken aback by the ease of dismantleing a lobster with scissors instead of breaking it apart by hand. I wanted to give some to friends as gifts. I decided against this one because, although I was impressed with the size and shape, I wondered how long the spring between the handles would stay in place. Having not actually used this one for lobster, I may be being unfair to the product. It will be used and perhaps I'll change my mind sometime in the future.

The lock is too weak.

These shears are a "must-have" for me. They work wonders in opening up the crab legs to get to the delicious meat. Getting to the Snow Crab meat is so much easier and they certainly saved my fingers from the pain of those King Crab spikes. I would definitely recommend these shears.

I bought four pairs of shears. We used 3 of them to cut 140 lobsters in total. The spring on one pair of shears came out(which made using it almost impossible) and the red lock on another one broke off but the shears still did the job. Considering the price, the shears did what we needed. They are not meant for heavy duty, frequent use, but are good value for the price.

Product arrived quickly and was exactly what I needed. It is a very handy tool to work with orchids. It is strong and sharp, making good cuts in leaves and stems. It is quite sturdy. Would recommend to anyone looking for a narrow tool to work in plant material.

I am usually an easy reviewer, but these shears are horrible. I have used this product once to butterfly a chicken. Never again. I will try them on a lobster next, ut if they fail so miserably on shellfish as chicken, I will throw them out. Please look at the pic of the shears to understand my negative comments.1. The red rectangle piece you see on the handle is the tool lock. Each time you use the shears to make a snip, the "safe switch" re-engages and locks the shears closed. You must use your other hand to unlock the shears after each snip, thus getting food grease on the shears.2. Since there are no finger holes in the shear's handles, your hand slides forward on the two handles because of the now introduced food grease. Your hand slides forward enough that you can't get any pressure to make the cut....no leverage left. I ended up having to stop after three snips to wash both my hands and the tool itself. It took about 7 minutes to snip out the chicken's back bone and the breast's keel bone.3. About every third snip, the handles slip enough that the shears open too far. At this point the spring between the handles falls off the shears.4. I now know the necessity of getting shears with finger holes so your hands stay in place on the tool. This tool has none.I would strongly recommend you finding a different brand shear than this tool.

the red thingie that holds the handles together falls out so easily I lost it within a month. But it still works so I can crack mah lobsters ... mmmmmm... lobster

The red plastic clip used to lock the scissors closed broke after the second use. Makes storage a pita because they are spring loaded to be open.

The good thing about these are that they’re quite sharp. Cuts through the shell very easily. However the lock and the spring broke first day. I been re attaching them and continue to use it.
