Greater than a landline!
Years ago, I used one of these, then I let it go, due to some life changes, and when I wanted to use it again, it was obsolete, and a new one had to be purchased. So, I went straight to the reviews for the new one, and there were hardly ANY good words spoken about it. Most people said not to waste the money. Based on that, I waited a few years, and just recently checked reviews for the latest model, and it had pretty much all good reviews. So, I have one in use now, and I LOVE IT. It is better than a LAND LINE, and MUCH LESS EXPENSIVE. Even living in the hills with lots of trees, this unit works great. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a house phone without the lines and upkeep of lines, and wants to save money. I purchased a couple of good wireless phones to attach, and I am sure their good quality has a lot to do with the overall good service.

second time I purchased this item
After buying this item for a second time, neither item works, does not receive a signal. Charged up the batteries in each case and took to Cuba, NY near the cell phone tower and neither phone unit received a signal. The indicator was lite up red in both cases. Apparently China doesn't test the junk they make. I wanted this so I would have a home phone. Couldn't contact Straight Talk cause I don't have a working phone and if you try to email Straight Talk, the email won't go through. How's that for customer support?

Updated my equipment for VoLTE service
We have been using the Straight Talk Home Phone service since early 2013. At that time, we had to purchase a Hauwei base station. The service has been great and the old Hauwei base station was rock solid. I recently received an email from Straight Talk informing me that I would need to replace my base station because the phone carrier would soon be upgrading to VoLTE service only and my old Hauwei equipment did not support that technology.I go to the Straight Talk web site and they do not have the upgraded base station in stock. I contact ST Customer Care, and they can't tell me when the transition will occur, nor can they tell me when the required hardware will be available to purchase from their web site. So I search the internet for information and learn that Straight Talk has been using ZTE branded equipment. I also learn that some ZTE base stations have issues with incoming calls. Then I learn that another brand, Moxee, is also being used for the ST Home Phone base.I find the upgraded base stations available from Amazon, and take a leap of faith to order my replacement and get a good working device. Three days later I receive my new Moxee branded base station, factory fresh in a Straight Talk box. After much searching on the ST web site, I find the links to update my account with the new hardware IMEI and withing about 5 minutes, my service is transferred to the new base station. I have a good signal level to the base station. Calls are loud and clear. Then my wife notices that the clock on our Panasonic KX-TG7745 cordless phone system is showing a time 4 hours ahead of local time.Whereas with the Hauwei base station, the timestamp on Caller-ID would always update the clock on the Panasonic system to current local time, with the Moxee base station, the timestamp seems to be using UTC rather than our Eastern Time Zone local time. I again contact Straight Talk Customer Care explaining my problem. To date, this issue has not be fixed. Luckily, on the Panasonic system, you can change a setting to use a "manual" time rather than "auto-time from Caller-ID" which is the default. This seems to have fixed my only issue with the Moxee branded Straight Talk Home Phone device. I will just have to manually set the Panasonic clock when changing to/from Daylight Savings Time, or due to drift of the internal timing circuit. So after a week since transferring my service to using the new Straight Talk Home Phone base station, I have successfully gone through Auto-refill for my monthly payment of service, our clocks on the Panasonic cordless phone system shows close to proper time, and we have had no issues with signal strength or call quality. Hopefully we can get 10-15 years of good service with the current technology and our new equipment.

Dial tone is a continious loud tone, not the typical dial tone.
SPENT A HALF DAY WITH 3 DIFFERENT PEOPLE FROM STRAIGHT TALK ABOUT A CONTINIOUS TONE WHEN TALK BUTTON IS PRESSED ON PHONE. SERVICE IS HORRIBLE WITH STRAIGHT TALK. FINALLY RESEARCHED MYSELF. FOUND OUT THAT MOXEE STATION USES A CONTINIOUS DIAL TONE, NONE LIKE I HAVE EVER HEARD. UNIT DOES WORK , IF YOU CAN STAND THIS HORRIBLE DIAL TONE. STRAIGHT TALK REPS ARE USELESS AND SPEAK HORRIBLE ENGLISH, ALWAYS TRYING TO PUT YOU OFF TO A DIFFERENT SERVICE REP. IF YOU WANT A NORMAL DIALTONE, DONOT BUY MOXEE HOME FONE UNIT. If you ever have to call STRAIGHT talk service, expect a horrible experience.
