Game of Go Set with Wooden Board

and I am happy about this purchase. It is not too big so it doesn't tak a lot of space. The board its self is nice. I like the wood. What I don't like completely are the stones. there are made of plastic and super light which makes them a bit difficult to place and keep in place on board.Anyway I would buy it again. If I end up loving the game most likely I'll buy full size with heavier stones but for now it is what I need

The playing board is blonde wood, 3/4" thick, flat, and has a good feel, not a cheap piece of wood. The grid is black, 19x19 with 9/16" spacing. The playing pieces are 1/2" diameter. They may not be easy to pick up depending on finger size, but I push them into place while playing and that works for me. I like it and it was a good buy.

This is really great, basic board if you're just starting out in playing Go. My husband and I bought this as we became interested at finding a very nice, but very expensive set at Barnes and Noble. I'd make sure to pick up a How To book on how to play or turn to the internet to read some good wiki's on how to play before you break it out. Be prepared to get a little frustrated as you figure out strategy! My only complaint is that the baggies that the stones were sent in are very cheap and not at all nice. Our black bag ripped IN the packaging so when we unboxed it, black stones fell out all over the floor. We've got them in nice sturdy Ziplocs now, but it was frustrating to purchase something and only for it to arrive ripped and damaged.

I had no trouble using this board straight out of the box. Unlike other boards in this price range, it's a solid chunk of wood and the included stones are double convex. There are some reviewers who found the stones a bit thin and the board a bit small, and since everyone's hands are different sizes I can see how that might be an issue; but for me it was fine, and it's nice to have a convenient little board. It's also about the right size to play using M&M's or skittles.I won't pretend it's perfect. The black lines are a bit rough in a couple spots, being overall printed thicker than necessary, and vary in width a bit. The playing pieces are probably thinner and lighter-weight than needed for the board's size, and pieces which don't weigh much are inevitably easier to knock around.

For the extremely low price, this is an excellent little go board for new learners, or to take with you when you travel.Pros:1. The wood is decent, much better than composite wood / veneer. The grain is more pleasing than the blocky-looking bamboo boards out there.2. The sound of placing stones on the board is pleasing. It resonates well, all things considered.3. Great price.4. Portable size.5. Full set of stones.6. The lines on the board are clear and dark with no sign of wearing off for a very long time.Cons:1. MUCH smaller than I expected. The description says 29cm or something, but a large demographic of customers won't intrinsically understand that this is a MINIATURE go board. A normal board is 45.45 cm by 42.42 cm, so it might have helped to have "Travel-Size" or "2/3 Size" or "Mini" in the description. Or better yet, a picture comparing the area of this board to a normal one. This is a marketing failure, but it doesn't change the fact that the board is still usable and available for a great price. (Around 18-20 at the time of this writing.)2. The stones, while proportional to the board, are difficult to use due to their small size.3. The board is 2-3 smaller planks glued together side-by-side. Mine came "broken" with one of the boards having fallen off. I was able to glue it back together easily, and now it is very solid. However, this is a quality control issue, and suggests the adhesive used is of poor quality for the stresses the boards need to withstand during normal use (and/or shipping).Notes & Conclusion:The board arrived quickly in nice packaging. The stones were in plastic bags, and no bowls are included (as stated in the description) and this set serves its purpose well. Excellent for those unable to invest a lot of money in a nice board, bowls, and stones. Having played for many years, take my advice and buy something like this (or slightly better) to get you by until you can afford a really nice set.

Useless. They sent only one bag of white pieces with the board, instead of one black and one white set. The board is nice though, so one star for the nice board.

The price was great for a beginner of the game. It arrived with all the pieces and in good shape. We used videos to learn the nuances of the game as the instructions that are included are very basic. The board is nice for the price and we have enjoyed using it.

This is a great Go set for anyone interested in playing Go. The packaging is very simple, a box with the board and stones (plastic) in it. The board is made of a solid piece of wood and is heavy for it's size. The stones are plastic and come in separate bags, one for black and one for white. This does not come with instructions on how to play Go so you will need to either know how to play or look up information on the rules online.
