It's explosion proof.
Well it says so on the box. Seriously. And you never know when you might get caught up in one. It also says in the blurb you can use it as a hammer, which seems like a very bad idea. It seems to want to say this is the sort of torch 'Action Man' might have, but presumably only after budget cuts. It's also supposed to be waterproof, which I'll take as meaning a few spots of rain shouldn't stop it working and it even comes in a little pseudo military-style green box, but which like Action Man is just plastic. There's no instructions. Not a word. So you have to figure it out for yourself and by looking at the listing. The first thing is, you have to remove the battery every time you have to charge it. And I know from experience that aluminium end cap is going to try and cross thread and jam the first opportunity it gets. You get a charger but it's USB, and there's no mains adapter. Luckily I had one handy from a small electric screwdriver which seems to be doing the job. When I first connected the battery the light went green, which seemed good, but after it stayed green when I took the battery out I realised it probably wasn't. Once I got the battery contacted better it went red, so I assume that means it's now charging. Or charged. Or not. Who knows? After an hour or so it went green (again) and a voltmeter check said 4 volts so I guess it's charged. You have to put the battery in this slightly naff plastic sleeve to fit it in the torch, this is because the space in the torch is too big for it as it also has to accommodate a fiddly looking adapter for 3 AAA batteries. Once I got the torch going I only got 4 not 6 light modes out of it. It went Bright, Dim, Flashing and Side/Cob light. I'd have been happy with on/off and the side/COB light just coming on when you pull the slide like most of them do, but pulling the 'slide' on this one changes the size/focus of the main beam. Another odd thing is that it switches off between each mode, so it actually went Bright-Off-Dim-Off-Flashing-Off-Side/Cob-Off- etc.The main light is nicely bright, the side/COB less so, which again is not my experience as on most cheap torches I buy from Lidl it's usually the other way round. I do like the main beam focus feature though, that's potentially very useful. Also, if you accidentally leave the side/COB light on it shines out through the red ring round the torch if the slide is shut.I'll look forward to updating the review after a few months use, as I see from other reviews despite being waterproof, explosion proof and having hammering abilities it's not unknown for it just to randomly flake out.** Update ** I accidentally discovered that if you give the end switch a sort of half-press you can change modes without switching it off. Which is great, but with some instructions I'd have known that already. I should also mention the torch is actually quite small (about 6in/15cm) compared to my regular Lidl ones, but it's a heck of a lot brighter.

OMG is this thing bright
Since programs like star trek and X files I've always wanted a torch that cuts through the darkness leaving a beam and always been disappointed, but .....ohhh my goodness this torch is bright, to bright to look at ..even the big cob light is super bright .when I first got it i blinded myself a few times lol. Couldn't recommend it more .seems very well built ,comes with everything you need in a nice box could probably be used for self protection. seller is quick to help out and replies quick .Worth every penny !!If I had to had to list a draw back it would be the end piece (button end) magnet is a bit weak and button is flush so you have to poke your finger in to uses ,neither a disaster in use .

Very practical and powerful
It comes in a very nice and practical case . Made by solid steel whit powerful led and cod light . It cames whit romm charger and an USB cable to char it streight from the car . I like that is water resistent .I bought it for my friend birthday but on the way I had a flat tier and being dark I use it ... and it was like gold for me . I change my mind and I keep it for me buying from a petrol station a Bottle of whisky. Happy me happy him job done!!!

Slightly dissapointing
Well I bought this touch based on the video that went with it.Now I'm not one to put things down but please do not believe what you see in the videos.Don't get me wrong the torch is bright and well constructed. But not as bright as the claims. The other down side is it comes with a USB lead and charging port for the battery, however no plug. Not a major issue if you have USB charging ports but be warned.

An excellent torch for the money.
Those Cree leds are incredibly bright and being able to recharge the battery from a USB socket makes it much more convenient than the ones with only a mains charger. The charging is done using an external charging unit rather than as a direct plug-in which wasn't completely clear in the item description but that's the only quibble I have. I had a brief moment when I thought the battery wasn't charging but then I realised I'd forgotten to take the shrink-wrap off - heh, my bad :D

Pretty fantastic Torch
I've used this for work for most of this year and I've not had to charge the battery once. The only issue with it is that the side-light function requires about 4 mini-button presses to get to, and it's easy to fumble those and reset the pattern. A second switch for the side light would have been a lot better. But it's a great torch and it's magnetic so I can stick it to the inside of the van roof if I'm working at night.

Lights the sky
I work a lot at night and needed a torch that was capable of illuminating a good distance and also close up. This torch does that amazingly. The main beam is super powerful and the internal led allows for an area close in to be well light. All in all this is an excellent torch and the rechargeable battery has a good charge time and holds its charge very well.

COB didn't work
Torch COB light did not work so needed to be sent back which was a real pain as I had wanted to use the torch whilst I was away working. The build quality of the unit felt robust and the beam was bright enough for what I wanted (work and leisure). The charge unit is quite big but as the torch would take three AAA batteries it wasn't a problem for me.
