Catskill Craftsmen Storage Chest/Bench, White

This is a nice, simple storage bench. It’s sturdy and went together easily. The hinge on the lid doesn’t seem to have a way to stay open, which is an issue sometimes.One item of note is that though this shows up in searches for “outdoor storage,” it definitely is not suitable to be exposed to weather. I bought this in hopes of using it on my front porch as a package delivery bin. The wood composite began separating after the very first rain. Also, the lid is hinged in a way that channels rainwater right down into the bin, where it quickly rises inch by inch, with no way out. So, not recommended for exposed outdoor use.

Easy to assemble, functional, and works great as pantry storage in my kitchen. I think people are being a bit critical of a product in this price range. If you want a real wood bench that's heavier and sturdy for decades, you will pay hundreds for it. This was in the price range we wanted for it's purpose. It's a good product. However, the complaints about the initial out of the box smell are completely true though and not uncommon to MDF products. You really don't want to assemble this in an occupied or closed space and you will want to put it either outdoors or in the basement out of the way of others for a few days until all the gases have released. This is a worthy purchase.

Great little toy box for my 18 mo. grandson we keep in our living room. The top doesn't slam, so no worries about little fingers. The only draw back is my little guy can't reach to the bottom of it, but he will grow so that isn't a big deal.Nice and sturdy, and I think it will last him years to come! Great buy! We have a fireplace that we don't use, and don't want him playing in, this fits nicely in front. :)

This is a cute little bench and fits perfectly in my bathroom. As another reviewer pointed out, this bench is very stinky, and I had to open up all the windows in the house to try and get rid of the smell. Smells like mothballs, ugh. Hopefully, the smell will dissipate soon. Another thing, where are the white caps that usually cover the screws? Maybe they just aren't included with the hardware (I didn't see them listed in the assembly manual) but they should be for that price.... it looks unfinished.Overall, I'm pleased with it. It is solid and sturdy when I sit on it and is big enough to store my towels (although I will wait until the smell has abated before putting the towels in!).

I needed a place to store towels in our bathroom that has no linen closet. We have a pedestal sink and no counter. I wanted a place for the towels and also a place for guests to put their clothes and toiletries while they shower. This storage bench is perfect! It was simple to assemble and the latch on the lid keeps it from slamming shut. The beadboard front matches the beadboard we have on the bottom half of our walls.The only problem was some minor scratches in the paint in a couple of places that I need to touch up with some white spray paint. Not a big deal.

My only complaint is that the top does not stay up on its own well. When the top is open it is still halfway closed. The top falls down. My kids have to hold it up to get it in. And often in have to screw the hinge back in because it gets loose often. But otherwise I like the look and overall functionality of it. I might buy a second one

Didn't add any decals or name fits perfectly in the family room or any room a child plays in.

This isn't the most expensive storage bech, but it works as it should. The lid opens and closes properly. The construction is sturdy enough for my purposes of small and light objects that need to be kept picked up. The item arrived with no damage and with all of the pieces needed to build it. The white finish is superb for being a fairly inexpensive item. I am sure it will provide many years of service to my family.
