She loves it
The wife loves this thing. She has had it over a year now and wishes she found something like this, like 40 years ago!

Perfection!
I was sick of my tupperwear smelling of onion. Now they have their own special spot to be stored in the fridge when we've cut one but not used it all. Goes in the dishwasher with no issues and we've had ours for a few years.

Ok Product
Good product to save your onions but its extremely hard to take the lid off. I won't dare put it back fully until I shave down a portion of the thread part. If your hands are on the smaller side, you will struggle with twisting this lid off as you won't be able to grip the container properly.

My favorite Hutzler Saver! It works reasonably well, the price is great, and it makes cooking more convenient for the cook
This my favorite Hutzler, and I own 5 different models. If you cook with onions a lot, one or two of these makes life a lot easier.I have noted in other reviews that these products are not "magical" and that, while they do not defy the laws of physics, they help keep food a little fresher and they make life more convenient for the home cook.Obviously onions are a common food given they are effective in enhancing the flavor of the dominant ingredient. And of course when cooking, stronger onions are often preferred over weaker ones. This always presents a dilemma: use more onion than you want, throw away a good onion, or try to save it in the fridge and smell it all week.Enter the Hutzler Onion Saver. Now you have a container designed to keep onions, and the Onion Saver will make your life easier by:--somewhat extending the shelf life of a cut onion by elevating it from the bottom of the container (pooled liquids can expedite spoilage)--cover the onion completely and lock shut, greatly reducing the smell that could otherwise dominate your fridge(and by elevating and using a design made to filter condensation to the bottom which will not make contact with the onion, this is more practical storage than other closed containers)--makes identifying an onion an easy process in a stocked fridge due by using a container that looks like an actual onion--keeps light off of the food (this can in some cases impact tastes)--offers you a good size (not too big and not too small) that you can throw in the dishwasher safelyThe biggest part I like though is reducing the smell. The design of this container allows humidity/condensation to collect in areas that do not contact the onion (and this greatly helps preserve life/flavor) which is something a standard closed container cannot do. At such a low price, this product is completely justified given it can help save a lot more money on food over the next few years than 5 or so bucks. Finally, two other things:1) Refrigerated Onions ARE NOT TOXIC when stored correctly. The reasons fridges exist are to slow the growth of bacteria (where as a temp between 40-140 degrees F is where bacteria multiply the fastest.) Cut onions actually keep well in the fridge and when stored correctly can last for the better part of the week. This (untrue) rumor began due to cross-contamination: that is, prepping/cutting the onion with something that contained bacteria, and therefore contaminating the onion (ex: cutting raw chicken, not cleaning the knife thoroughly, and then cutting the onion, or prepping the onion on a surface that is not clean like a plastic cutting board which can harbor bacteria even after cleaning, or not washing your hands correctly after handling foods known to carry certain bacteria, such as raw poultry.) In other words, this comes from poor food hygiene, in which the onion is not culprit but is made bad from the person introducing the bacteria to it. This cross-contamination can affect almost any food (hence the importance of cleanliness and good hygiene.)2) Cutting the onion with a very sharp knife will greatly reduce watering eyes - it can also extend the storage life of the cut onion in certain circumstances (not to mention a sharp knife is much safer than a dull one).
