Simple, gets the job done.
I bought this a few days ago and I'm pretty happy I did so. It's made of a "no slip", rubbery substance that will "stick" to a flat surface, but won't mark up your guitar's neck. It does just what it says, it turns basically any flat surface into a guitar stand - tables, even a window sill. If you're like me and you watch videos on YouTube for some guitar tips, this is a great little item to pick up. You can put the guitar down for a second to type, rather than having to mess around with a guitar stand (which I also have, but since I have too many guitars, there is usally a guitar already on the stand). The advantage here is the guitar rest is small and doesnit get in the way/create a trip hazard when you put your guitar away. It's also got a nice little pocket for picks, which, again, if you're like me, they're pretty much everywhere and having another way to organize picks is a definite plus.

Recommended, and can double as a drink coaster when not using it for your guitar!
this thing is great - reasonably priced and works (so far). the rubber is very "grippy," seems to be of high quality, and says it's made in the USA... cool! In some amazon reviews, some people complain that it is not stable when a guitar is not in it, and that they easily bump it and have picks flying everywhere. I am sure that is possible. For me tho, I use it as a coaster when a guitar is not in there, so it is really handy in that respect. I am a bit clumsy so could see myself bumping this and send picks flying everywhere. Just thought I would offer this unadvertised benefit - it can be used as a coaster! yes, there are little grooves in there (that has the product logo etc), so some people may not like this coaster idea. but, at the very least, if you are clumsy at all and know you might bump this when a guitar is not in there, maybe don't put picks in there? anyway, hope this helps others out there thinking of buying this clever, simple, helpful guitar rest!

Really useful, but needs to be secured
For the money ($7), this is definitely the most convenient mobile "guitar stand" because you can basically just leave it on your amp and have a pretty solid place to lean your guitar wherever you go. The idea is great, but the execution is a little lacking, especially for anything other than gentle home use. This thing kind of stays in place with my bass on it, but it's pretty clear that even a light bump would knock it off. I didn't have much luck using command strips to hold it in place because of the ridges on the bottom. But what did work was just poking a hole through it and using one of the existing screws/holes in my amp to hold it down. Didn't have to make any permanent changes to my amp, and now this thing is solid and won't slip at all. Pretty cheap way to keep my bass from sliding off my amp and to save me from carrying a full guitar stand around.

Ukulele Stand
The Planet Waves Guitar Rest works for ukuleles! I just got one, and have used it for a few days, and it's the bomb! I can set my little ukuleles down now without fear of falling over. This product is a rubber disc with small "arms" in a gentle curve that nestles against the edge of any surface, and you can set your instrument against it, and voila, it doesn't fall over! Here at home, I use it on the second shelf of a bookcase, and my concert sized ukulele fits like a glove, heel on carpet, neck in Guitar Rest.I'm going to buy a couple more for my ukulele cases, because I can use them at one of my uke parties. If one sets a tiny ukulele on the floor, for instance, to take a whizz, they're just small enough to go unseen and have someone step on them. Here, I just find a spot near wherever I'm sitting, and it becomes my "lean" spot, and I can even set my beer can on the round part on the back! Coaster uke/guitar holder. It's quite immovable once it has some weight against it from the instrument. I could carry a metal stand with me, but it wouldn't fit in my ukulele case--this Planet Waves product does. A winner.

Excellet table edge support for any guitar
Fantastic! Have two and will be getting another soon. Hockey fans, if you have an 'ice hockey puck' laying around, they fit perfectly inside the 3" circle cutout of the rest, this adds extra weight and support.

Great portable guitar rest.
It is really handy to be able to place this guitar rest just about anywhere you need it. The rest is very sturdy and locks onto a table top tightly. The flexible fingers that hold the neck into the rest are not very strong. A small child or pet could easily knock the guitar out of the rest. A close look at the design revealed a small hole and a notch intended for a locking strap (not supplied or available). A quick fix was to push a large rubber band half way through the hole and slip the two lose ends over the notch, securely locking the neck in place. I like this rest so much that I bought another one for a friend.
