In my search for new handles I look at some of the specialty shops that cater to those with a truck canopy ( or topper/shell ) and of course various retail outlets and online as well. In my search it was a little tough to find everything all together as compared to what is in the Bauer Matching T-Handle Lock Set kit this review is on. I had seen where you could get the whole kit ( some were Bauer kit's and some were not) Some of locking T-Handle's were just being sold as a single handle with the accessories with it ( I was looking for both handles, so basically a set of two with all the accessories ) In my search at some of the specialty stores I did see a few kits, but the kit was ridiculously expensive compared to the Bauer T-Handles Lock Set of two I bought here at desertcart... even with the shipping charges included, it was still cheaper by over 60%. At some of the specialty shops, to buy the kit was well over the cost of the Bauer T-Handle Locking Set here at desertcart. Some of the specialty shops also won't sell everything in a kit. I encountered this at some shops where everything is sold separately and once everything was added it up I found it to be quite pricey and more than what I was willing to pay ( I didn't wan't to buy their company, I just wanted some new handles ) In my search for new handles I checked some of the auto parts places and of course the hardware stores, and once again I encountered not being able to find the two in a set like here at desertcart. Lots of handles and the assorted parts sold separately and some where it was 1 handle with accessories per set which still turned out to be pricey. I found online some places and vendors that sold different make Locking T-Handle but they wouldn't fit my truck Canopy ( topper/shell ) that were sold one in a set and two in a set. Further online searches started to become fruitless and when I did find some that were two to set with all the accessories the vendor didn't ship outside of the U.S. ( this happened a lot, so it was a little bit of a test in perseverance to find a good value and someone that shipped to Canada and at a good price) After much searching over a number of days, I fount the Bauer T-Handle Locking Set here at a vendor on desertcart. The Bauer Matching T-Handle Set included two handles and all the accessories ( I didn't wan't to leave the one handle that was starting to seize on the canopy, better to change it now then when I can't open it on one side due to it seizing completely ) The Bauer set that I bought here at desertcart met the bill on a number of points. It included two handles on a nice long shaft, two keys per handle ( 4 keys total), two hard composite plastic gaskets , two long steel catches, two handle covers and four screws for mounting. The great thing about this set is matching keys for both locks! No having to have to fumble for two different keys, and trying to guess which key opens which handle. One of the nice thing about the Bauer Locking T-Handle set is that these handles are made out of steel , not a composite plastic which means they will be a lot more durable then the plastic ones. ( The old steel set on my truck have been on there for 12 years! ) Installation of the handles took about 10 minutes. The Bauer Locking T-Handle set is well built. The handles are very sturdy with no play in them. The steel catches that are included in this set are even longer by a about a 1/2 inch compared to my old one which means that they are deeper in over the side of your canopy ( Topper/Shell ) so they will help prevent someone from pulling your handle to one side and being able to wiggle the catch out and open one side of your canopy ( Topper /Shell ) and gain access to the inside. Once nice little surprise with this set is that Bauer has put loctite on the threads of the screws that hold the handles on ( I was ready to go and purchase some... but didn't have to since Bauer provided it... a subtle but nice touch to help keep you handles in place snugly. The long steel shaft on the handles and the set screw on the catch leaves you ample room to make sure your able to have enough length to adjust where you need the catch to be to secure your canopy ( Topper /Shell ). The only down side I can see to the set is that when you are setting your catches on the shaft, you need to make sure you just get them to where they are snug. If you really crank the set screw you can strip the threads on the catch ( Yikes! ) The covers come a little out of form, so you might want to consider putting a few rubber bands around the covers while they are on the handle to help them back to their form before you install The covers are there to keep the rain and dirt out of your key insert for the lock, you do not have to use them but they are nice to have the option. The two gaskets have a round plastic ring on them in the center. On some canopy's ( Topper/Shell ) the ring will not sit inside the hole in your canopy ( Topper/Shell ) frame. I had this occur for me upon installation, I just cut off that ring on the side that was going to fit flush with the frame that the handle secures to on the inside of the canopy ( Topper Shell ) You might not have to do this depending on your canopy ( Topper/Shell ) but it works well in my circumstances. These were an awesome deal and the vendor was great in getting these to me shipping wise. The price even with shipping was a bargain, way cheaper than I could find anywhere in my searches online and with in store comparisons. I am more than happy with the Bauer Locking T-Handle set. These worked perfectly and bolted right up. The right and left side make it so the locks are mirrored on both sides and open like you would expect them to. Both locks and handles have smooth action. The extra bits these come with are a nice touch but I'm in and out of my shell so much I just tossed the dust boots as they would just get in the way.
