Absolutely Brilliant
I am half-way through the book and can't wait to finish. The pace and repetition is perfect and I have no problem retaining the material. At the beginning of the book, he said don't try to remember everything and just go with the flow. I was skeptical at first but it turned out to be perfect advice. I listen and speak along in my car to and from each day and pick it back up each session without missing a beat.Highly recommended!

Great for Review
I am not sure how well I would do with this if I was learning Chinese without any background, but it is excellent for review. The topics for vocabulary and grammar are very practical. I appreciate the two native speakers. One is very clear and the other is more natural -- excellent paring.

Narrator/Writer is very knowledgable, but the word NOW is overbearing.
I love the flow of the book, the perfect amount of vocab introduced through every chapter, and I followed every chapter. Talking about what I want, then going to the more cultural 'what i would like', then moving into ordering and food, that was really smooth dialogue and useful. That is, until about chapter 23 - when there was a certain word repeated over time. This is only my hangup, and may not be the same for you. The narrator uses the word "now" to connect thoughts. The inflection is to insinuate a new theory or concept, but it isn't always the case. Almost every thought is connected with the word, and it became a big snag for me. To this point, i was so hyper-focused on the overuse, i lost all attention to the material. Although I will run the mp3 through a program and edit them all out, it seems like a snag that had me looking for other options.Besides my own personal hangup - and the need to edit out the overuse of the word "now" - this was good literature.

Best lesson I've found to date - I've been using my skills after less than a month
I've tried so many other methods and have struggled. After Paul Noble's method, this is definitely the best system I've found. But here's the key thing - it seems all/most other methods are teaching to HSK standards. That's not this. This is teaching how to speak using common topics. The repetition, the two-native speakers (Beijing and Taiwan), and the digestible short lessons have made my abilities and (more importantly) confidence leap far beyond anything I've done previously (small zoom based classes with native speakers, Hello Chinese, lots and lots of JJ Lin listening :) ). I did the audiobook while driving to work each day, which gave me 3-5 lessons per day. The few times I felt overwhelmed were because I go in at 5 am, and I simply repeated the lesson the drive home and the information stuck. Highly recommend as an audiobook.

A great learning method for Mandarin Chinese
I absolutely love learning languages and trying out new language learning products! My Spanish is quite good, my French is survival, my Korean is upper beginner, and I'm now on a journey with Mandarin Chinese. Paul Noble's Method is like a current generation version of the Michel Thomas Method, but with a more modern feel and several quality of life improvements for language learners. I purchased it yesterday, and have learned with it for about an hour so far. My initial impressions are quite good! Paul obviously put a lot of thought into the course, because he made a few choices that are VERY good. For instance, he has two native Mandarin speakers working with him. A female speaker and a male speaker. This is very impressive because almost no language learning products use both male and female speakers in the same product. In many languages males and females speak differently, so being able to hear the difference is incredibly useful. Also, the female speaker speaks the sentence in a slower fashion, and the male speaker then will speak the same sentence at normal speed. This way you can hear the words broken down, as well as at full speed. I am using this course in conjunction with other methods, and it has already helped me figure out how I can use vocabulary that I've learned from other materials. Paul's way of logically explaining how to use Chinese is fantastic. I'm super impressed so far and look forward to finishing the course!I pre-ordered this course directly course through Audible. I reviewed it on Audible this morning, and I am also reviewing it here, because I want to make sure people know how good the course is.
