The Flying Hockey Stick

We got this book from the library and my 6 year old son decided he couldn’t live without his own copy. Cute story. We read it pretty frequently and he doesn’t get sick of it.

Same cover and look at the one I had as a child! Exactly what I was wanting.

This book was one of my husband's childhood favorites. Still is cute for this next generation and doesn't seem dated, as in no language people don't use anymore and no graphics of items a kid wouldn't see now. Although it has a hockey themed title it isn't about hockey so this this book is good for both sports enthusiasts and non-sports enjoyers and is gender neutral. My 18 month old loves it and I've used it for baby shower gifts on several occasions since it isn't a popular new book which are more typically given as gifts. Overall the book is a little long for a small toddler but I'd still recommend it, as it has a cute story.

This book has the most wonderfully creative, gentle humor! Parents, you will love reading this to your child! Grandparents, uncles, aunts, really anyone will enjoy the delightful illustrations and the good storyline. Your child will never forget this storyline. The author, Jolly Roger Bradfield, wrote many wonderful stories that should be in every Kindergarten through 2nd grade classroom. Pickle Chiffon Pie teaches girls to grow up to be smart, funny, and discerning... it's message is basically looks aren't everything, so please choose someone for yourself who is kind and considerate and tender hearted. Yes, it's a message we could all love! Giants come in Different Sizes needs to be put back in print as well... loved it.

This is an awesome children's book, with adventure, courage, and altruism. The book delivered so quickly and in perfect condition. It was a gift and I was so happy that I was able to deliver it earlier than expected. This is a great read aloud book for the adventurous at heart.

I grew up on Jolly Roger Bradfield, and I am so delighted that these lovely, fanciful books are available again. I bought this one recently and read it to my preschool students, and they were enchanted.Sign of how things have changed, though - we had a little chat first about plugging in fans, and how that was a task for mom or dad! I didn't want to get any concerned notes from home about encouraging kids to play with appliances. :)

My kids (3 & 6 yrs old) love this book! We have a TON of books at our house and this one gets read over and over again. The illustrations are awesome--fun for all of us to stare at and study. (I also love the length of this book--substance without being so wordy that I dread requests to read it before bed!) I'm going to buy more copies to have on hand as birthday presents--I'd say it's ideal for girls or boys ages 2-7. Such a fantastic book to fuel the imagination of little ones!

Amazon did it again!! Arrived in a timely manner and in excellent shape!! A book of complete imagination and comically illustrated. What an imagination Jolly Roger Bradfield has. He is one top notch children's book writer. His artistic illustrations leave no room for imagination-It's all there. Beautifully and wonderfully written and enjoyed by the whole family. Young and old alike. What a joy to read and reread again and again. You find something new in every illustration each time. It's a privilage to own this book!!!!!!

Takes me back 55 yrs. Still a great book for children.
