They are very comfortable for this purpose. I was also looking for a pair that is snug enough around the toes that I don't trip or push through them. They are not tight enough and I have slipped a couple of times. My foot is a normal size 8-8.5 so I ordered a 7.5-8 and they are still a little big. They have good cushioning. Unfortunately they run wide, and without socks I was sliding around in a medium. I double-checked to make sure I had received the correct size, and I had, so I knew this was just the way they're made. They fit "ok" with socks, but I knew that they would stretch out and even slip with socks eventually. If I buy the $8 slippers in the store, my feet hurt, so I need slippers with a good sole. These are great! Very comfy and worth the price. I've had SmartDogs before and they are very good slippers. I wish they were $8, but at least they're not $50 or 60 which is average retail. Once in a while you can find them at Marshall's or TJ Maxx for a good price, but not often. Amazon has the best price on these.
