Mathematics and Python Programming

It can defiantly be way too mathy and there is a bit of a disconnect between the math and the code; so I would not use it as a textbook; but as a self study guide to learning calculus (and its finite math basis) with python. With that being said it does take you through the mathematical basis of calculus through to multivariate calculus both in mathematical theory and code examples. With that being said, this is the best book for learning to do finite math and calculus with python.To: The Author, J.C. Bautista,please take a look at "A Primer on Scientific Programming with Python", "Computational Physics: Problem Solving with Python", and "Elementary Mechanics Using Python: A Modern Course Combining Analytical and Numerical Techniques". If you take the materials you have already in your book and expand in the physics realms using these books you would create one dynamite book for doing physics with python

Like: Math content. Complete explanations. Download of code.Dislike:1. The translation from Spanish is not complete: y for and, si for if , etc.2. The computer output is shown in a very light small font, that is very difficult to read at times. This is mybiggest dislike. Should be in bold.Overall I would recommend. But fix the illegible computer output!!

This book is extremely difficult to understand. As others have pointed out, the text seems to have been run through an automated translator and needs to be edited by a fluent English speaker, but that was a relatively minor annoyance. My real complaint is that the way it teaches things is very roundabout and requires prior knowledge of things that are more complicated than the actual point that is being made. For example, when explaining how to code a function, it used a statistical analysis algorithm that I'm not familiar with as its example of a function, which caused more confusion than anything else. A function could have much more easily been demonstrated with simple arithmetic, such as "def f(x): return x*x+2" just to teach the syntax.If you are already a mathematical genius and just need to learn Python syntax, this book is probably for you. For the rest of us, try something else, such as the official python documentation at python.org/doc or https://wiki.python.org/moin/PythonBooks

Math/code is fine but the text contents appear to be robo-translated from another language so in places it is hard to read... but usable. Wanted to return but it's not worth my time dealing with it as this is not obliviously as easy as going back to a local bookstore.

Easy to understand and teach . One of the few books where students learn math with programming in a pleasurable way with many graphic examples that help in understanding.

- Poor English,- Mis-translated words,- Incorrect words,- Sometimes the output doesn't match the code.I would wait for the next revision or two.

I paid for new and got a damaged book
