MTD 748-0376E Blade Adapter

Perfect fit on my push mower with a 7/8 inch shaft. No cracks or casting imperfections. This is the adapter only you'll have to reuse the other old parts. I usually buy two so I have a spare because stuff happens and the part is not in stock at the stores that sell mowers in my area.

PROS: Well constructed; Fits Properly.CONS: Does Not Fit Oregan 98-005 MTD Mulching Replacement Mower Blade.I purchased this adapter for the WEN 56173 engine I also purchased. It fit the engine shaft with no problem, although I wish it fitted a little tighter. The only issue is the above mentioned mower blades did not fit. The blade holes (bolt and blade guides) were too small to fit the adapter. Locally purchased blades fit the adapter just fine. I reduced the rating by 1-star to reflect this issue (wanted to do a half star but system would not let me).

I thought this was the correct size, but it is 2-3mm too small to fit the motor shaft. Turns out we need a 25mm inside diameter part instead. Seems pretty well made, but the fit gets it 3 stars.

It was slightly difficult to get this onto the mower shaft because there was a small metal burr on the shaft (not on this adapter). Once I hit the shaft with a couple of very light strokes with a file, this thing slid on like butter. I've seen some other reports of similar problems. If you are pretty certain that you have the right part for your mower and it's not slipping on snugly but easily, a very light pass with a file over the end of the mower driveshaft might be necessary. The shaft gets banged up a bunch while mowing so may not be in the best condition to be receiving this when you install.

I couldn't find the part number to the blade adapter for my mower so I thought I'd try this one. My mower is a newer MTD brand purchased from Wal-Mart (mp21625) so I thought it may work. Some reviews said that it didn't fit their mower no matter what they tried. I admit it was a little snug when I put it on, but a few taps from a rubber mallet and it was mounted just right. My mower runs like new again. This saved me a lot of headaches and a lot of dollars.

I have an older lawnmower and this item could not be found by the parts store I went to. They told me my lawnmower was too old! I received this item and put my lawnmower back together and it has never run better. Thank you for making my search so easy and to actually have exactly what I was looking for!!!!!

After snapping the original bolt that attaches the blade and adapter to the shaft I had to make several decisions quickly1: should I buy a new mower?2: should I replace the blade adapter?3: should I swipe the neighbor kids bubble mower and hope he doesn't recognize it.For all of you thinking option 3 is a good idea, the neighbor kid is 17 and being recruited by the WSU football team.The easy 2nd choice was to spend the $13.23 plus shipping on this OEM blade adapter.NOT FOR HONDA ENGINES if you buy this for your Honda engine you're going to need that bubble mower

Buy two because you will probably need it. They are made to break instead of the crankshaft. This is my third one because I grind up sticks.

The metal is some sort of cast iron. The problem is that the torque created by the motor spinning the blade is enough to tear the adapter apart. This adapter broke without cutting any grass.

I couldn't find a part in any of the local stores so i looked the amazon for help. So being able to find the part on saved me from having to get a new lawn mower. I needed the 7/8" Dia to fit the shaft on the engine on my mower and this fit perfectly

The right part and a good price. And fast delivery, too.

Says it was genuine MTD but mine broke after 2 uses. I did not hit a rock or anything, it just snapped.
