Every Day a Friday: How to Be Happier 7 Days a Week
B**1
"Everyday a Friday" is Joel Osteen's Magnum Opus:
Joel Osteen is the Pastor of Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas, the largest church in the world, and of course you'll truly ascertain why this is so after reading his 5 star catharsis. Joel's book is universally on point with a pragmatic message that comes straight from the Lord and is conducive when applied to everyday living. And no matter what organization you may belong to, which may include race, color, creed, sexual orientation, political affiliations, religious denominations or whether you are rich or poor, it doesn't matter this book will cause you to think about how you are living, how you treat others and if God truly rules over your life. Joel Osteen knocks it out of the park! And believe it or not this book is a primer for world peace. Unfortunately, many of us won't embrace this practical wisdom, but as a collective, if we were to embrace this message we could achieve world peace over night.Joel believes we need to change our perspective and be thankful for what we do have and to share it with others. We need to have positive attitudes when we go to work, when we deal with members of our family or when we think we are lacking things in our life, such as finding that special someone or paying off debt, or getting well.Chapter 6 deals with keeping "The Right Perspective." And that is exactly what we need to do. As Joel states, "It's easy to focus on what's wrong in your life, what you don't have, and how big your obstacles are. But if you are not careful, you will lose sight of all the good things God has done for you. Don't take for granted the family, friends, and opportunities He has blessed you with. If you're in such a hurry and so stressed that you fail to appreciate the gift of today, you'll lose your joy and ability to be happy every day of the week." In other words if you are facing a difficult situation, try to realize that it's only temporary, that God will see you through your tumultuous experience, and remember, You can do all things through Christ, He strengthens you (Philippians 4:13).Don't let the Devil and his demons steal your joy, use "the healing power of laughter" to cure your summertime blues. In chapter 20, Joel talks about the St. Joseph's Medical Center in Houston, Texas using humor rooms for patient therapy. "The St. Joseph's staff found that visits to the humor room led to many patients (checking out of the) hospital sooner because it helped relieve (their) symptoms." Laughter has a tendency to release hormones such as dopamine throughout the body, which helps with the healing process. Think of dopamine as God's heavenly prescription for pain.Overall, Joel's book prepares you for the battlefield of the mind; it will help you combat depression. Think of it this way, depending on Jesus is practical medicine, it's much better than using synthetic drugs such as Abilify, Ativan or Zoloft and it's cheaper too, as a matter of fact it costs nothing. Remember man made cures are only temporary, God's Grace is eternal. Also, Joel said in a sermon aired on Television sometime ago, "Wear your blessings well!" and "When it gets tough and things don't look like they'll work out, you can laugh by faith, knowing that God has already written the final chapter." Remember God always has the last world and He is Love personified (1 John 4:16).If we help others to achieve their goals and pursue their dreams then we are accomplishing the Lord's will and when we do that we are in sync with His purpose, we become simpatico with the Holy Spirit that dwells in us. "There is no greater legacy than to help someone else win." Also, "What makes you great is when you reach back and help somebody else become great." Joel stresses the issue of faith and charity, loving people into repentance and the pursuit of their God given dreams and aspirations. The story of Jesse Owens and Luz Long is mentioned on page 223 of this book and how they became friends in spite of Hitler and the Nazi party's racism. "I've found the greatest legacy is not what we leave for people, but what we leave in people." Luz Long invested in Jesse Owens success during the Olympics and Luz gained the most precious gift of all, a friend. We must see "through (the) eyes of love." "Instead of being critical and writing others off, take time to get to know them." Moreover, "don't have a critical spirit." Also, Jesus stated in Matthew 22:39 "Love your neighbor as you do yourself." Jesus also demonstrates this message in Luke chapter 19:1-9 when Jesus befriended the Tax collector Zacchaeus. Jesus didn't condemn him; instead he loved him into repentance. That's what we have to do if we're going to live out the destiny God has planned for us. For you see, forgiveness isn't only for the trespasser, it's also for the injured party. A case in point: "When Jesus rose from the dead and came back to talk with His disciples, He said, `If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sin of any, they are retained' (John 20:23 NKJV). When you retain a sin, you hold on to it. God was saying that when you hold on to the wrongs people have done to you, then the poison contaminates you. When you don't forgive, it's easy to become what you hate."There is a lot of pragmatic wisdom throughout this book. God definitely anointed Joel Osteen and he's given him a very difficult assignment by making him the greatest preacher of the modern ages, allowing His message to be propagated through Lakewood Church ministries. What a responsibility and gift!Everyday a Friday as far as I'm concerned is his best work yet. Our world leaders need to read this book and apply it to domestic and world affairs. Whether anyone believes it or not this book is a powerful polemic against nihilism and social disorder. The Republicans and the Democrats need to read this book.

Great Condition-Great Book!
I have bought this book many times as a gift but this was the first time from this seller. The book said used but it was in pristine condition from the cover thru all the pages. No wear at all. Not only that but the seller included some really nice freebie coupons that for me put their service over the top. I will definitely reorder from this seller again. The book itself I have ordered many times. It has a beautiful message throughout the entire book that is so harmonious with my faith it makes me smile. It is about having a genuine faith that is exhibited by the simplicity of putting others first and cultivating love within our communities by being the love compassion and commitment we wish to receive and how it sends out a change naturally in our interactions in all relationships from simple everyday interactions. This book is a great resource for anyone that has experienced grief, depression, and trauma that makes a person secluded themself in fear and despair. That is why I have purchased it for so many friends. Depression and anxiety are so widely experienced these days and especially those in early teens and 20s. I cant say enough good about this book - it is such a fresh straight forward approach become the change within yourself and then help others to do the same. Great Book exceptional service from seller.

When it's time to think!
Well, I was a bit reluctant, because I almost never buy or read religious books, as such. But, the title caught my attention, so I decided to buy it. It commenced much like he speaks, simple and rather ordinary, but there is something about his conviction (believes what he says) and something about the way it comes together in one's mind.I told my daughter about it, and said I would get her a copy if she would be interested in reading it. She said she would definitely, but to just send mine when I was through.Huh uh, says I; I want to read it again, (and this is what I am doing. The first time, I read it in after I retired for the evening, or when I awakened during the night, which I do from time to time. This time, however, I am not reading it every night, because I have other books that were being neglected, but I think I will just keep reading it, now and again. This is one of those kinds of books that can be read whenever, and still be interesting, and those are the kinds of books I like. I have been trying to get through The Story of Civilization before I leave this earth. Nonetheless, Joel's book will probably stay by my bed for some time, with a few of my other favorites.I will share this: One night I was fretting about having planned so much for my day off. Actually, I was still stressing as I lay with my head upon my bed. Then I noticed how my thoughts were racing about, and scolded myself thusly: "You are lucky to have two friends who want to see you in one day, and you are lucky you have a car, and very fortunate that Les Schwab is right across the main road, and even more fortunate that you have the money to buy that new battery (first thing in the morning)!" Then I laughed at myself. I was fine then, and the next day went very well. See, Joel, I'm paying attention! It is a good book, but be patient. All those simple statements have a way of sneaking up on you, then you realize is when you get it, and it is kind of fun.Mickey

Glad I stumbled upon Joel Osteen....
Since seeing Joel on Super Soul Sunday I downloaded one of his books immediately. After reading "The Power of Now", I was so impressed that I downloaded several of his other books!Even though Joel is a preacher, (please do not be put off by this if you are not a "religious" type). His approach is a very contemporary one and even though he does quote from the bible, he does it in a modern way that you can relate to.His personable, determined and helpful approach make for a lovely and transformative experience. If you have read his other books, you can find reference to them in some of his other work which I particularly liked because repetition certainly helps me to retain the information.

Get ready to be happier....
Recently stumbled upon Joel Osteen sermons on Youtube and thought I'd get one of his books. The first chapter is lifted from one of his sermons that I regularly listen to. Being someone not too big on memorising verses from the bible. I find Joel's words to be practical advice that are not far from reality. Changing little things/acts/thoughts in our lives can make a HUGE difference. Read the book from page to page and APPLY IT TO YOURSELF to see the difference. Definitely worth having in one's library.
