As a huge fan of Botton, I can say that this isn't one of his best works. Essays in Love and The Course of Love are much better and highly recommended in this genre.

First time bought from ThriftBooks. Product is as described. Given the price and the quality of the book, ThriftBooks is reliable. I will buy again if they have something I want.

Book is like new. I remember reading it in the early 2000s and couldn't put it down, so I wanted to read it again, which I haven't yet... but I am so glad to find this copy in such good condition. All of Alain's books have been good.

This author has a talent to show emotion and practical situations every person experience in his life in a form of sphere where his heroes aren't two dimensions plain neither boring. Each quality or circumstances is giving in a perspective that most people can see themselfs from all angles that gives reader the opportunity to criticize himself and see himself as both main characters of this book at the same time. I think this is a best approach for reader who wants to find out some of his weakness and strength in personal and social behavior.
