Very pleasantly surprised
As a historical and sport fencer who has taken knife fighting classes from time to time, I've always been interested if different methods humans have used to filet each other over time, and the showmanship of twirling a balisong has always looked very interesting to me. Plus, being stuck inside due to quarantine, I wanted to learn some new things - bake bread, plant some poppies in the side garden, and play with knives. I took a risk and bought this trainer comb, and I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised by every part of it. It's weighty and solid like a real knife, very well-made, and very attractive too. In fact, because it is so solidly-built you do need to exercise it a bit to loosen up the joints (the smallest amount of oil helps), but that's a good thing. Within a day I was already looking impressive and scaring my GF using it as a lethal fidget spinner.Other old ladies like me may remember Fonzie's switch-comb from "Happy Days"; well this is a much cooler version of it. It comes with a little belt-holster thing that is easy to store it in, and really these is absolutely nothing I would change about it. One note, it doesn't make the loud "clack-clack-clack" sounds you see in movies and TV, and part of the reason for that, speaking as an engineer (which I am), is those knives make those loud sounds due to loose joints and metal pieces hitting each other. A well-made balisong should be understated and deadly...well, as deadly as a comb can be.Another thing is the fact that the comb has teeth on it makes this a great trainer - when you screw up you get a little "bite" from the metal teeth, that is a visceral warning that you've done something wrong, but without all the blood, and screaming, and cleaning up the carpeting afterwards. This purchase made me happy.

Beautiful quality comb, weak spring
the comb looked just like the pictures and was pretty decently weighted. definitely feels like good quality material and no inconsistencies in the teeth or engraving. my only issue is the spring arm on the bottom tends to open up and can't really hold it closed but that's my only issue

Exactly as Stated
My son has wanted a butterfly knife for about six months, and since I am really quite over having a kid in my face 24/7 following the lockdown, my wife and I reluctantly gave in. I say my wife and I, when it was really my wife who just ordered it out of spite to annoy me.It's quite sturdy, and he's already dropped it a million times, and it is holding up just fine. He did go to You Tube and watch a bunch of tutorials on tricks, but we have found that while a butterfly COMB is safer than the knife (of course), the weight of the comb vs. the knife can make mastering these tricks a bit harder (or we are just that uncoordinated). It's now the best gadget to force school attendance, as well as chores. He's already lost it for 24 hours when he skipped school, and you would have thought we broke it in front of him on purpose.I guess this comb is part of his march into delinquency.

Good for an absolute beginner
I bought this for my young son (8), who had seen me use my (expensive) butterfly knife and really wanted one. A high-quality butterfly knife trainer is very pricey, so this model is a nice way to try one for a small investment. Just know what you're getting with this... once you learn some beginner tricks, you will be ready to move on to something better. But be prepared to spend much much more. However, for the price, this is a decent introduction to the hobby. The clasp works great. It has a good weight. The sharp and dull edges of a real blade are represented well with the comb. It does have a few rough edges, but they might prevent sloppy technique. At the end of the day, my son loves it, and it's lasted through his abuse (so far).

SAVE TIME! Get this one!
The media could not be loaded. I was surprised at how sturdy this comb was for the price. The last Bali comb I had before I lost it was $10 and had nowhere near the level of design this one does. This one has a spring loaded latch which adds convenience and flare when opening it. It also has no screws which means it’s A LOT less likely to come apart on you. If you’re thinking about getting a cheaper one do yourself a favor and get this one. It even comes with a cool dragon engraving. For less than $20 this is the best balisong trainer I’ve tried.
