This is NOT a Conventional Electric Blanket and Contains a Heat Reflective Layer - Consider before purchasing!!
First, this blanket is very nice and soft and seems very well made. The controls are easy to understand and I particularly liked the separate low voltage power supplies. So I give Soft Heat an "A" for construction and materials.Where I have issues is that the blanket apparently contains a special heat reflective interior that aids in heating operation but has the unintended consequence of causing the blanket to be almost smothering to the users since it does not allow the blanket to breath. The blanket will make a low crinkling sound if your move it around due to the material that is woven into the layers. Even with the heat turned off and separated only by a sheet, we were unable to tolerate the heat reflective effect and it was so stifling that we had to remove the blanket after only a few nights. These were cold nights so I can only imagine the effect on users in a warmer climate than we are in. Many years ago, there was a product that we purchased which was put under the mattress cover which was supposed to reflect heat back. This was deja-vu because we had to abandon that "space blanket" as it was called, for the same reasons. We had forgotten it after so many years but it was so hot and caused us to break out in a sweat after only a few hours of use. So to those considering this Soft Heat Ultra Micro-Plush Low Voltage Blanket: it will insulate you and will not permit the bedding to breathe. The heating works very well but once you are warm, even turning off the blanket does not stop it from keeping you even warmer to the point that some us simply cannot tolerate total reflection of the body heat. Think of wearing a material for clothing that does not breathe - it will get really uncomfortable in most situations.I was sorry to return the blanket because it seemed to be genuinely high quality. I will shop for a more conventional blanket, like the Sunbeam blanket that we are replacing after 11 years of use.

Why do blanket manufacturers not create great electric blankets?
I had done extensive research on electric blankets before selecting this one. Every electric blanket from every manufacturer seems to have 20% or more of the blankets not functioning, not heating completely, having spotty heating etc. This blanket had upon opening the package, one side that did not work at all (electric controller lit up but it did not heat). The other side heated up mildly as if on a low setting, while set to high. That was after 15 minutes.Having read all of the reviews, I just gave up and I am returning this blanket to Amazon. In my opinion Amazon should start an inspection program to make sure that products are up to specifications before selling them. Products that consistently have malfunction rates in the 20% range should not be sold.I also think that the malfunction rate is under reported because many of these blankets fail early.Until the malfunction rate, (short and long term) is under 5% consistently these products in my opinion should not be sold. Amazon customer reviews are consistent with ratings in other locations on the web. Consumer Reports has not done a review of electric blankets in over 10 years. What is really sad about this, is the problems are consistent across name and non name brands. What is even worse is that this is not a high tech product, nor is it a new product. Electric blankets have been around for 40 or 50 years. So why is no one manufacturing a properly performing unit? There is a great market need for a blanket that has a longevity guarantee of 10 years, heats evenly, turns off after 10 hours automatically, doesn't have spotty heat, heats to the set point on the controller within 5 minutes,is in a blanket that breathes, so as not contain moisture, has electronic controls that are easy to see at night without glassesis safe to have the wire to the blanket run between the foundation and mattress (so the cords are not a trip hazard at the foot of the bed),is ultra reliable, and doesn't over heat or melt a controller,is UL listed, and will fit in a blanket cover without sliding out or bunching up.It is just astonishing that all of the same problems are occurring with all manufacturers as though they were being manufactured by the same factory overseas, with all of the same quality control problems.I am giving up on electric blankets until the marketplace fixes itself. Reviews going back over the past 5-6 years are pretty consistent with the same complaints. It is just not worth the headache of going through all of the research time to try to find a blanket or brand that actually works and meets, let alone exceeds expectations. For those who have written positive reviews, it would be useful to know if you still have the same opinion of your blankets 1,2, 3 and 5 years later. I am guessing not based on an extrapolation of what I have read.Buyer beware for this and all similar products.

Don't bother!
This is a beautiful blanket, but one of the controls didn't work from the moment I received the product. After following the instructions to contact the manufacturer directly, I finally got through to someone in customer service and was told that they would ship out a new control to me and I would be receiving it in approximately 5 days. 10 days later and no control. I have left numerous messages on the manufacturer's voicemail, as there is never anyone there to answer the phone. No one called me back. I am very displeased with how the company has handled this issue and will never purchase another product from them.

I like the blankets or I wouldn't keep repurchasing them
I'm on my 4th blanket in a little over 3 years (39 months). Obviously, I like the blankets or I wouldn't keep repurchasing them, but they really should last longer than ~10 months for the price you are paying. The problem is one side always stops working. I didn't know about the company's 1 year warranty or maybe I wouldn't have had to keep replacing them on my own dime, but I've read the company isn't very good about honoring their warranty. I paid extra and bought an extended warranty with my most recent replacement (because based on my experience with my 3 previous blankets I just know it's going to stop working at around the 10 month mark) so we'll see what happens. Still the softest heated blanket with the most heat settings on the market. I just wish they actually....you know, worked.

PLEASE NOTE: The company that fulfills the warranty went bankrupt in 2020
I recently tried to make my 3rd claim in 5 years on my 5-year warranty. One controller stopped working (they replaced it), then the other a year later (they sent a whole new blanket), and now one side of that blanket stopped heating. However I discovered that Perfect Fit Industries, which is the company named in the user manual to call with issues, no longer exists. Nor does Soft Heat, the company shown on this page as the Manufacturer. On the blanket packaging it says "2018 Perfect Fit Industries, LLC. SoftHeat, Invisiwire, Safe & Warm, and Perfect Fit are registered trademarks of Perfect Fit Industries LLC.8501 Tower Point Dr., Charlotte, NC 28227I spoke twice with Amazon about this. They didn't know about the bankruptcy. They were glad for the heads-up and they're going to look into this because they said they don't sell things that aren't supported by the seller or manufacturer.

Love my blankey!
This is a very well built product. Ever since I bought it about a year ago, I have used every day for sleep as well as my afternoon nap. I have used other heated blankets, but they were not reliable and died in just a couple of months. This one has been going strong for a few months, as it should. At the end of the 7th month, the controller started to malfunction. The indicator light comes on for a few seconds and then dies. The blanket does not heat. I hope to resolve this issue via Amazon.ca where I bought this device. Amazon referred me to the Manufacturer (Perfect Fit Industries - 1 (704) 815-2200). I called them. They agreed to replace the controller free of charge once they verified that my order was placed less than 5 years ago - the period of warranty - and that the blanket had not been abused. Very fair and courteous treatment. The replacement controller will arrive in two weeks via USPS. All is good!

noisy, it rustles every time you move
The first thing I noticed about this blanket was the noise it made just while unrolling it. It rustles, crinkles as it moves. Even when it is flat on the bed, if you move, it makes noise. It is very irritating when your trying to sleep. Second, as was stated on the bright pink paper sticker on the bottom of the blanket, it is cold when you get into bed. Doesn't matter if you just turned it on or if it was on for 20 minutes. Makes no difference. Wish I had known these two things before I ordered. Cause I would have never ordered it! The inner lining moves separate to the outer shell of the blanket. Again, irritating!

I love this blanket so much
Without exaggeration, this blanket is my favorite possession. Whenever I travel I miss it, and if I can fit it in my suitcase it comes with me. My husband has started calling me Linus. The soft, gentle heat is much nicer than a standard electric blanket’s lumpy coils. The difference between low and high heat settings is marginal, but it’s somehow just the right temperature. The material is so soft! I just love everything about this blanket.

Really happy with this blanket!
I bought this blanket after too many nights spent feeling chilled. I liked the idea of the "cozy" heat, and the thin wires seemed ideal. It was easy to get arranged, and very soft! It's a fairly thin blanket, and won't add a great deal in terms of insulation. You'll want another blanket on top of it, realistically. The wires really are extremely thin! You can barely feel them even if you go poking around trying to find them. They definitely produce a good amount of warmth, though, and I haven't noticed a cold strip in between my side and my husband's.I'm really happy with my purchase so far, and I hope the blanket holds up!
