Hot water all day long at least until the propane runs out!
We are new owners of an old farmhouse that we are slowly fixing. The plumbing is the worse as it's a mixture of copper, cast iron cpvc. Didn't want to hook up the 50 gallon electric hot water heater yet as the panel is not labelled accurately. This was easy to set up as you only need a cold water inlet ( we used a modified garden hose and attached it to a cut off valve that is straight lined into the 1/2 cpvc to the cold water side.) Connected the cpvc to the hot water side and ran it up through the shower where it is fastened to the wall. Install a mini turnoff at the shower head then the shower hose and shower head ( did not use the original shower head or hose that came with it). Fastened heater to the outside wall of the shower under the tin roof. Attached the BBQ propane tank ( 10 gallon) using the regulator and hose that are standard to the BBQ grill. Put two D batteries in turned on water, turned on propane hit the on button and easy peasy done and operational. Connected a pex line using shark bite T and ran the pex to the hot water side of the kitchen sink. Hot water where you need it. The 20 minute cycle does work but if you hear it click just cut the water off for five seconds and back on hot water again. Don't have to go out and manually cut it back on at all unless propane runs out. Have a family of 7 adults and one 4 year old plus wash dishes with this and the 10 gallon lasts us almost a month of everyday showers. Am gonna purchase the 18L one as well as I'm gonna run the dishwasher, upstairs and downstairs bathrooms and outside shower using both. Still cheaper to run than the 50 gallon heater and no use of electricity. Very please with this purchase.

Great for off grid hot water!
We got this product pretty fast. It was the cheapest of the on demand water heaters we could find and works better than the expensive one. At first when we got it the battery pack kept falling out and would turn cold mid shower. We bought some Velcro and haven't had a problem since. We live in an airstream trailer with a claw foot bathtub and this heats it so nicely. We just mounted it right outside the trailer and plumbed it in. These propane heaters are so simple and easy to hook up and great for off grid living. 4 stars and not 5 because occasionally while filling the tub I walk away and come back to it having kicked off and filling with cold water, but that doesn't happen often. Otherwise this is a great water heater, especially for it being pretty cheap! We usually have to buy a new one every winter because the hose freezes and they break. I will update how this does after the winter.

All I got with this order was the run-around. Defective unit. Impossible vendor. Avoid.
The water heater arrived and appeared to be packaged well. Unfortunately, that's where things start to go wrong.I connected it to a water supply and an LP tank, following the user manual instructions, and installed a fresh set of D batteries. Turned on the switch and the water, and the heater ignitor sparked repeatedly, but the burner did not fire.No problem. I happened to have a couple of brand new propane tanks, so I replaced the tank.Turned on the switch and water again, same result. Ignitor fired, no burner. No hot water.Checked the water pressure. All good.Replaced the propane with the 2nd brand new propane tank, just in case.Same result. Ignitor fired, no burner. No hot water.Easy conclusion - defective unit. These are Chinese made water heaters and are not well built, so this much is no surprise. So, packed it up in the original box and requested a return/refund for the defective item. This is where things start to go wrong. When requesting a return shipping form from Amazon from this vendor, you'll get a shipping label with an address in China. There's a note on the shipping form to contact the vendor to get a U.S. return address. Because there's no way I'm going to pay to ship a defective unit to China, I contact the vendor and explain in detail how I connected the unit, how I tested it, and that it's defective. They respond the next day. They wrote: "We are so sorry for the problem and the inconvenience. We can give you a refund instructions. But, could you cooperate with us to send a short video to show the product problem? Because we can't confirm the specific problem of the product. After we receive the video, we will provide a solution, please don’t worry. If you choose to send the video, could you please send the private email in the attachment? And could you please note your order ID:xxx-xxxxxxx-xxxxxxx in the email address? So that we can find your mail. Sincerely hope to get your understanding. We look forward to receiving your reply."Remember that by this point I've already explained the problem to them. So I reply: "After spending my time opening and connecting your product only to find it is defective, I disconnected the unit and packaged it in the original box in order to return it. I will not waste my time unboxing and reconnecting the unit only to produce a video for you. The product is defective. When I attempted to operate it, the ignitor fired and the gas valve solenoid activated for a moment before turning off again. The burner did not light. As I mentioned in my original message, I tried with new batteries and two different brand new LP tanks as part of my troubleshooting. I also confirmed the water pressure was correct. At this time, please send me clear instructions where I can ship the unit to obtain my refund."Another day goes by, and they reply again by asking for absurd levels of additional product testing: "We are so sorry for the problem and the inconvenience. We can agree to return product, please don't worry. Before, We notified the technician of the problem, and the technician said that this water heater has requirements for water pressure and air pressure. The water pressure is 0.025Mpa-0.8Mpa, and the air pressure is 2800pa (0.4psi). If the water pressure is too low or the air pressure is too high, the water heater will not work. Could you check the water pressure and air pressure? "This vendor does not operate in good faith. Do they honestly expect a customer to jump through hoops like this? Of course not. They want to frustrate the customer so they don't have to pay the refund. Want to know what would happen if I purchase the equipment to verify the water pressure and gas pressure (by "air pressure" I assume they mean LP pressure - and as it happens, I was using a regulator with 0.4psi output). If I jump through these hoops, will I see a refund? If they eventually agree to accept the return and send me a U.S. return address, will I be stuck paying $20 shipping on a $70 defective piece of equipment?EDIT TO UPDATE. The seller eventually agreed to issue the refund without requiring the defective unit shipped back. The remainder of my experience as detailed above remains factual, and for that reason I will leave this review in place.

Cheap Price = Cheap Product =BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE
It goes without saying “ you get what you pay for” and anything you pay for made by Ridgeyard is complete JUNK. everything in the unit is made so inexpensively. Never ignites the first time, shuts off randomly mid heat up cycle. The top vent isn’t even sealed to the combustion chamber so your always smelling propane. SPEND YOUR MONEY ELSEWERE.P.S.- WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE IVE EVER DEALT WITH VIA AMAZON

It works!
My second one for a different location because the first one I bought 18 months ago works like charm and the 5L which was the first one I bought was a lemon and cost much more... so I took my chances w an inexpensive one and glad that I did...

Great water heater
This water heater is working great. I own several eccotemps & this works just as well. I installed it on a tiny home & it gets the job done perfectly. I mounted it outside & built a small metal roof over it to keep water from coming in the exhaust port.

Love it! We are off grid while building
After suffering with constant temp changes from another brand (camplux), thought I'd give this one a try. Love it! We are off grid while building, there enuff sacrifices being made without adding freezing during shower. Highly recommend
