Dachstein Woolwear is the Best
Great customer service from Sweater Chalet! My package came with Christmas stickers/cheerfully placed, and a very nice card from all the company employees.I contacted the seller because my head was a 7-1/8" (Tilley) and I had read the reviews from other customers. The seller sent me several pictures of their product to show me the sizing. It was great! Small companies mean great service.Always looking for the perfect winter cap.- I wanted wool and found this by accident on Amazon. Some might say it's expensive, but when you read the backstory (a few customers have mentioned Dachstein Woolwear history in their Reviews) you are helping to keep a tradition alive. Another reason to support this seller of Dachstein Woolwear from Austria.I ordered the marine blue--which is a 2-ply Dachstein wool. It's sufficient for my needs--I'm not planning on polar bearing in a tent in the Uintahs but if I did this hat would keep me toasty warm out.If you need the ultimate wool cap for this forecasted cold winter, I suggest you get the Dachstein Woolwear Austrian Boiled Wool Cap from Sweater Chalet.Update: I returned the blue cap for a Mele Grey one that was thicker. It was a little looser for my big noggin too. The wool is not scratchy. I believe this is boiled wool that is knitted into the hats. Very pleased with how warm it keeps my head when I'm out clearing off my driveway. Great product. Looking forward to purchasing other items made from Dachstein Woolwear that this seller sells.

Four stars - but
Four stars but – – – my take on this product. The good: this hat is bomb proof. It is extremely well-made and will no doubt keep you warm in cold weather and it is comfortable to wear without overheating even if the weather is not so cold. It is tightly woven yet very breathable. It is 100% pure wool. I am sure it would keep you warm even when wet. It shipped quickly and was very nicely packaged. It even had a nice note enclosed. The not so good: this hat is one size. It is going to be great for a person with a small to medium size head. Apparently, my head is to big. I normally wear a size 7 ½ to 7 ¾. This hat as shown in the picture is rolled up twice from the bottom. I could barely get it over my head and it came down to the top of my ears. This hat, on me, was way too tight. Because of the construction of this hat it is not going to stretch to fit me over time. When unrolled once the hat comes down over my ears but is still extremely tight. When unrolled fully the hat is almost a full 12 inches long. It will easily cover my head all the way down the back of my neck which means it also covers my face down to my chin. Still tight.I saw one reviewer ask if the hat sticks up and a reply from another reviewer who said what does it matter if he keeps you warm. Well, it matters to me. I don’t like my hat to stickup and flap over like a circus clown. I want my hat to fit right down to the top of my head regardless of whether it is just folded to the top of my ears or unfolded all the way down my neck.Conclusion. For a person with a smallish head you can’t go wrong if you are looking to spend a lot of money on a product that will last a lifetime. For a person with a bigger head you are going to be disappointed with this product because of the fit. Would I buy this hat again - absolutely not. What I recommend this to a friend - if they didn’t wear a larger size hat absolutely.

Triple Protection
I was happily surprised by how much wool is in this cap. I can fold it over three times and get triple protection on my ears, forehead and neck. Some may not want that much protection, but I'm anticipating some serious Minnesota snow-blowing this winter!

Fantastic hat! Exceptionally well made
Fantastic hat! Exceptionally well made! Words don't do justice to the quality of this hat. In my experience, it's rare these days to find something this well made. Thick. Warm. Comfortable. Shipping was fast and included a hand written thank you note. Nice people. Really nice hat!

The knit is good and tight
Had been searching for a real wool stocking hat. This is it. The hat is large enough to fit over a ball cap if wanted and I wear 7/38ths. The knit is good and tight. The hat is thick. I've worn it on windy night shifts. It covers ears with depth to spare. The service was great with fast delivery. Fifty is a bunch for a sock hat in my book. Compared to others I've found its worth it.

Warm & Wooly
I have a problem finding headwear that fits my size 7 3/4 noggin. The first time I wore the cap it was snug, however after about the third time it stretched slightly and now fits perfectly. Additionally, it kept my head warm when jogging on a cold (20 degrees F) windy morning. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would do just that.

Extremely well made hat
Holy Toledo what a hat! If you're like me you're tired of crappy beanies that are made of cheap wool blends and stitched by an overworked and underpaid child then you're probably looking for an extremely high quality beanie like this. The wool is obviously of high quality with a very tight and snug weave while remaining pliable enough to fold and contour to your head and ears. It fits snugly on my average head and hasn't stretched so much to be a problem. The seller even sent a lovely handwritten card with some photos of their workers and town. Wonderful product from a wonderful company.

Big head, big hat that fits.
If you have a big head and you are looking for a big hat that you can pull down to cover your earlobes, then this is the one.I do not know if it is going to shrink, we shall see. It fits all over my head and earlobes with room to spare and I do not have a small head.Took a while to find a hat that fits this well, with this quality. It is war,!Yes, it is not cheap, however, take care of it and it will last for a while.
