Ideal SecuritySK7112 Garage Door Extension Cable, Zinc Plated

Was looking for a kit long enough to go between the two pulleys on my garage door, and this worked great. The cord well made. When unpacking be careful as they are wound up tight.

Easy to install. Before I had bought these I had 2 springs break and they did damage. A friend told me about this product I am happy to have them. No more broken springs yet, but I'm sure this will help. A must have if you have kids around the garage because the springs release a tremendous amount of energy.

I had to replace the cables on my garage doors and these worked perfectly at a good price.

At first I was a bit worried about the lack of a loop on one end, especially when it popped out the first time I tried it. But I reread the instructions, found how I had miswrapped the S connector plate, and it has worked for a month since without issue. In fact, the plate allowed me to adjust the cable a little tighter than the previous double ended cable, and as a result it hasn't slipped off the pulley once since, which was a big problem before (occasional popping noises when opened and closed, and a strand or two breaking after a year).

Two year update 1/2018. Cables still holding up nicely, no obvious signs of wearing out. The pulleys I bought separately are not going to last another year though.I thought it would be a thicker diameter cable based on comments from others. the vendor packaging does not specify, It's a typical stranded steel cable. I replaced the pulleys also, I expect about 4 years life based on the cable age these replaced and at 4 open/close cycles per day. My door is double wide masonite solid door and an old craftsman electric opener,

I used it anyway, with misgivings.I measured with a caliper. This product is 3.0 mm. The 1/8 inch cable I'm replacing is 3.2 mm.This cable is a lot more flexible than the old cable, more so than the difference between 3.0 and 3.2 should be. I don't think the extra flexibility is a good thing. I don't know if it is some aging effect vs. a difference in materials. It is too flexible for the method the old one was secured to 2 holes of the 3-hole plate. This one slips if secured that way, so I needed to kludge it.(In case it isn't obvious, this is the first time I replaced a broken cable myself).

Used these to retrofit a set of springs that i noticed had no safety cable. Worked perfectly didnt have to unhook the spring these ended up feeding right through.

For anyone that knows how to use a drill and basic hand tools, this is a simple, and necessary install if you still have the old style garage door springs.

I didn't fit over my post mount on the bottom of the door. I tried every possible way and used up my entire profanity vocabulary. I noticed that extra nuts and bolts are included, so I assume there are doors that use this as an anchor. It's a shame, because the quality is the highest I've seen. I had to go with a lesser quality product that fit.

Saved myself hundreds of dollars by doing this myself quality and thickness of wire was better that the original that I replaced. I only needed to replace one cable kept the other as a spare as I'm sure when one goes the other is not far behind. Comes with everything you need for install.
