Reduces static but doesn’t stop it altogether
Bought one of these on a Black Friday deal (as otherwise too expensive in my view) to try to reduce static issues, the theory being that static charge will be conducted away from the record and transferred onto the metal turntable platter - of course this only really works if the platter is grounded and not all platters are. Seems to work reasonably well on my Audiotechnica LP5. Fits well into the turntable in place of the original mat and is about the same thickness as the original rubber mat. Seems to reduce static but not resolve it completely, hence only 4 stars. Sometimes lifting a record brings the mat with it indicating there is still static - perhaps my platter isn’t grounded?

Excellent
If you don’t already have an anti-static mat you need one, and this one is great

Could be me...
..but it doesn't seem to make that much difference, especially not for the price.

The mat I have received is warped. Therefore I have not changed my rubber Technics mat, which I wanted to do because of huge static. I cannot get rid of static on clean LP's and new 180g LP's, even though I use carbon fiber brusch and Milty Zerostat 3.Edit May 08, 2017. After my review I was contacted by AM Clean Sound and they sent me a new Anti-static record mat free. I appreciate it very much. So I replaced my stock rubber Technics mat with a new antistatic mat and it really reduced static electricity in my audio equipment. In fact, along with cleaning the stylus, the albums with carbon fiber brush and using Milty Zerostat 3, as well as increasing humidity in my listening room (from 35 % to 44-45 % by humidifier with ionisation ) I have got rid of static electricity almost totally.

Fibers shed immediately and are challenging to remove from vinyl
I bought this mat to try to protect my records from stray dust and hairs, thinking that if it could reduce static on my records it would do a better job of keeping stray dust and hairs from clinging to them. On first use, this mat shed at least 50 fibers onto each side record. They are extremely challenging to remove because they are incredibly thin and cling to the vinyl or stick in between the grooves. I noticed it right away because I tried out a white-colored vinyl record and the black fibers were immediately visible. I think I wouldn’t notice so easily on black vinyl, but the fibers get in the way of the needle and cause crackles in this brand new, previously clean record. If anyone else experiences this, I’ve had some moderate luck with dragging a carbon fiber brush from the inside out against the grooves, while blowing a clean air source (handheld electric air blower) in the same direction. I have been at it for about five minutes and gotten half the fibers out on one side.Note about the picture, I’ve tried to get a representative picture but it’s rough because these fibers are so small that I can’t exactly back out and show the whole record all at once in order to show the extent of the problem. In the image posted, to the southwest of the black album cover you should be able to see a small black fiber in a groove, along with several other stray fibers near it further southwest of that one directly in the groove. This is after having brushed the record extensively for 5 minutes.
