The post brought me to tears 😢 I wondered if was the only one that would make my heart feel. Started following Alfa on all social sites, additionally i was looking for her posts, trying to figure out why and how a total stranger could be inside my damaged heart. When I received the book, I wanted to find just one poem that didn't bring to mind either a person or event in my life. How did she know me? Why was she writing about my life? I kept reading ... Found ONE that was so far from what I knew! ONE! I then asked my husband to browse the book and see what he got. After a bit, he announced the was one that he could relate to. ONE! You'll never guess .. yep, we had picked the same ONE. After further discussion we agreed it's your perception of what is written, and how you choose to look at remember your life. Everyone suffers heartache, with one always being a beacon of pain, calling you to remember the tormented and tattered pieces of a relationship more than the positive. Alfa walked me thru some bad stuff, which reminded me in order to move forward in a healthy life, not only must I be a new person. I must shed the old nasty stuff. To totally take off old feelings so that I don't cover the new hope and positive stuff with garbage. Today I read from beginning again, this time, I knew that was then. This is now. This book not only touched every mental, emotional and spiritual side of me, but I'd helping me move from angry pissed off woman, to a more peaceful place. I haven't finished so I can't tell you where it ends. Round about page 67, I needed to let the dogs out, and began thinking about what I had previously read. And I could barely remember any of it! I just knew that what I had read resonated within me somehow. So I started all over. I would read each bit, then close the book and contemplate what was being said, and if/how the written word interacted in my day-to-day life. Needless to say, before I made it to page 27, I could feel my heart strings playing dueling banjos! Some of the prose would pull my heart in one direction, and the next would directly relate to someone I was close to! And when I felt the tug-of-war going on inside me, I knew I had found words worthy of any great philosopher! Abandoned Breaths could easily be used as a syllabus for a college level philosophy class. I am anxiously waiting now to see when Alfa will be releasing another book! I will definitely be a repeat customer!
