If you are taking the rcm exam then this is obviously the book to buy because you'll be tested on the scales and arpeggios in here.If you are just trying to improve your guitar technique, look elsewhere.For one thing, it's pretty pricy for just a collection of scales and reprints of Giuliani's arpeggio studies which are available for free online.But also, the scale fingerings are often awkward and inefficient. Maybe they chose these fingerings to make it more challenging for the test, but if so that seems like the wrong approach. Difficulty should come about naturally as a result of a correct musical approach.

For 30 bucks, you'd think you get a spiral bound book so that it lays flat without music stand clips that you have to remove and refasten every time you turn the page.

The book explains everything very clearly that you can just figure everything out without a teacher. I got this to help me with the exams, however this is great for everyone!

I think all beginner guitarists should get this book as it will take you through your scales etc. which you’ll need to know.
