Review: Simple, effective, and cheap - Bought this for my wife. It counts daily strides and distance walked, nothing else. It can't be turned on or off, though the display blanks after a bit to save on the battery. Each day, so long as you wear it, it accumulates your strides. You can look at your totals at any time. At midnight it resets everything to zero and saves your totals. The most recent seven days' totals are always available and can be scrolled though. Older days are lost. So basically after the first setting you do nothing; you either wear the unit or you don't. Initial setup is pretty easy -- measurement units, stride length, and current time. The unit comes with a slide on clip, which my wife uses to hold it to the waist of her pants, or you can leave the clip off and put the unit in a pocket. There is also a small screwdriver to change the battery when necessary. It's a *very* small screwdriver, so keep it somewhere safe and remember where you put it! The unit itself is small and thin and almost weightless, but the display is big enough to read. It doesn't much care about orientation since it has a 3-axis accelerometer, which is nice. So, strides and distance walked. Nothing else. It won't tell you how many calories you've burned or your weight on Jupiter, and it won't connect with your computer. But if it meets your needs in a pedometer, it's simple, well-designed, and cheap.
Review: A well-designed and inexpensive basic electronic pedometer - If you want to track your steps and calories, and upload the data to computer for comparison, purchase one of the more expensive devices that permit such record-keeping. If you only desire to keep an accurate count of steps taken and miles incurred per day, and get a sense of how much walking you are doing on a regular basis, his inexpensive pedometer works fine and takes up minimal room in your pocket. You won't be devastated if you lose it and have to buy another one. (I purchased a cord separately on desertcart for under $2 including shipping.) Set up is easy once you have measured the length of your stride in inches(be realistic when counting off the ten steps). The HJ-320 keeps records for the current and the seven previous days. (It resets to zero at midnight local time.) You can't upload the data and there is no record of calories consumed or sleep time, just steps, distance in miles, and time of day. After researching the more expensive devices I decided to try the HJ-320 first for a couple of months to see whether I was really into record-keeping (as I am with my bike rides). I will likely just stick with the HJ-320 and depend on it to encourage me to walk more during my workday. Update: After 5 years and many miles my HJ-320 died. I quickly purchased another one. Although the price had increased this pedometer still seems to be a very good choice if you want to count distance as well as steps. If you want a lanyard as I do it must be purchased separately, a minor extra cost

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does it record up to 1,000,000 steps or is it limited to 99,999 steps?**
A: I dont know. Mine resets at midnight every day, as I'm more concerned about each day's total. I know I'll never walk a million steps in a day! :-)

**Q: Does this pedometer have a hole so that I can attach a leash to it? I have already lost too many pedometers.**
A: Mine came with a clip that you slide onto the pedometer. You can then attach the clip to clothing. It's just a slide on clip--not anything that clips really secure like a metal clip with tension. Don't know how secure that would actually be. I'd be afraid the clip would slide off without my noticing it........ There is a small hole on the back that goes in the back but comes out the side--anything you insert has to be flexible to turn the corner and come out the side. I was able to thread a twisty tie through it so you could stick a thin flexible wire through it and then attach a leashto the wire. I don't know how secure it would be either but it is better than nothing. I have a problem losing pedometers also, so like this one that is basic and reasonably cheap. Good Luck!

**Q: Will this work if I put it vertically in my sock while I play soccer?**
A: The device is a tri-axis pedometer, which means that it has an algorithm that measures acceleration in a three-axis model (x, y, and z). It is actually an accelerometer that through an algorithm detects if a step has been taken; if changes are small within the sample, it will drop them. That is why my bet is that you will have no problem with the measurement in soccer where most of the time the player is actually running and when escaping from opponents the steps are firm and conclusive. The Omron works vertically and horizontally without a hitch. I am not so sure about how you are going to secure it to your sock, but that's another story. Hope this helps.

**Q: Can you set your own stride length? Does it measure distance in miles?**
A: Yes, set up your stride in inches or centimeter. I chose mine in inches, the distance walked will be displayed in miles.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Small & Accurate
*by K***A on January 14, 2015*

It's a nice little thing, especially for the price. I've tried numerous times with how accurate it is--and it is VERY accurate. All you have to do is stick it in your pocket, and it's small enough to forget it's even there, and the slim shape makes it so you don't need to worry about it falling out. I also like how it has the memory--it seems to add a bit of motivation to move more so you have more on your record. I was lucky enough to get it right before they turned it into an add-on item! The size is very compact and it fits in a pocket well. It's 3 inches long, and about 1 1/8th of an inch wide, and about a third of an inch thick (without the clip). It's very small, About a third of the size seems to be solely for the brand name, and I think if they make an update they should take that part off and put the brand name somewhere else--make it just that much smaller! Also, it takes a minute or two to set it up (which isn't a bad thing). And when you run, it counts each step as one step (I think they're supposed to--I'm not a professional). I would recommend it to anyone who wants a simple and accurate pedometer.
