A really natural, human view of a fascinating time in history.
This is a really natural read. Not contrived or formulated at all.For a really human taster of what it was like to be an officer in the Indian Army after the war I would recommend this book.

The best of British!
This book is a real little gem. Yes, it’s about time in India during WWII but it covers much more than that, showing what varied experiences an individual could have of the war. It’s written with sensitivity , sometimes sadness and pathos but most of all inexhaustible good humour. The author epitomises the British spirit of “keep calm and carry on.” It’s an exciting and entertaining story and you’re left wishing it could go on and you could learn more about this very likeable chap’s subsequent life.
