I Need a Hug

Good book; need more diversity
This book. So sweet. My toddler adores it, and so do I. My only piece of feedback: all of the animal characters are males. This usually happens in books with animals (unless the animal is in a dress or has super long eyelashes). It’s frustrating, but the book is so cute, I tried to look past it. I also loved Thelma the Unicorn. I see the author has a new series out called Bad Guys, so I suspect that will only include males too. Good book though.

Love this story!
This is one of my child’s favorite authors, but this is by far my favorite book to date. So sweet and shows how no matter how different, we all need love and deserve to be loved.

A simple story with a great message
A great little story about how everyone can find a friend who is just right for them. A favorite read aloud for my 7 year-old intellectual-special needs niece. Simple dialogue helped with some of her sight words. She loves the clear uncluttered artwork. She becomes quite animated while reading; we have to reread it several times in the same sitting .

This book is so sweet.
My granddaughter and I are always reading books together. I love reading and I want her to share that love.

Cute book
I used this book to start the school year with my classes K-5. Even the older children liked the book. Just because the snake gave him a hug, sometimes it is dangerous to give hugs when you are social distancing and trying to stay safe. Sometimes you need to only hug your family. Brought a great message to the students.

Super short - very little story
We have a bunch of Blabey books and have enjoyed them. This one left us wanting more. The whole story here is prickly guy can’t find a buddy to give him a hug, then he finds a snake willing to hug him. Hugs ensue. End. My soon to be 7 yr old was like “wait, that’s it?” when we first read it. If you like a story and relatable characters, I’d say skip this one. I think the content here would be better off in a board book for use with babies.

Disappointed
It came quite badly packaged. The pages are all have wrinkles and looks like a used item. Story is short and not as funny as other books by the same author.
