Just right as a first set to teach my son. It's his to use and I don't have to worry about it if something happens to it. Good dollar value.

My little niece(6 years old) wanted to learn how to play chess. I had chess pieces but I couldn't find the board. I searched Amazon for a board, but then I decided to buy the full set for her. So now she has the board and the pieces (I have only my old pieces). I taught her how to play chess. She is learning and enjoying it. I am happy that I bought this set for her as a gift.

I liked the product but mine was damaged. The chessmen are better than the cheap Pressman set and nicer color than the expensive Pressman set. The pieces are white and black and seem stronger and heavy than the cheap $6.52 Pressman. The $10.99 Pressman set has much heavier.I do not like wood sometimes because it is natural and flawed and has too many problems. This plastic set was sent to me sabotaged to entice me to foolishly buy something more expensive. The white bishop is bent like it was melted and pushed sideways, the black queen has irregular scuffs all over it making it look stipled. There was a huge hole in the top, the back of the board had a square ring stamped into it and the fold was dented making the board bumpy and weak at that spot.I bought four chess sets from Amazon and all four had problems of some kind. I hold Jeff personally responsible.So now I have to make a chess set using wood from home depot. There is no guarantee the quality they will sent me and they do not carry the required sizes in store. Amazon does not care about wasting my time or money. I cancelled my prime membership and won't be renewing. There is no point. I waste more time returning items and being left with fraudelent items then it is worth it. After $25 shipping is free so what's the point, especially now that I can not trust them to even get a carboard board in a cardboard box right.

Fair price, should get many hours of fun with my grandsons!

This was a gift for my 3 year grandson who likes to play with my Real Chest Game. I wanted him to have his own so he would not touch mine. It did the trick, he likes his now. It's a toy for him but it is obviously a good board game for all. Durable enough and attractive.

Easy to use

Very basic but perfectly functional for someone who wants to learn but doesn't want to spend money on a bulky wooden board. Lost 2 stars because the instructions have a mistake in them - the diagram layout of the pieces on the board is wrong so ignore that and learn from Wikipedia instead.
