Very nice lamp but a few issues when installing it.
Very nice looking, well built. Works fine. 4 stars because the description of the lamp and included instructions are not accurate. Description fails to indicate that it comes with a chain and mounting plate so I ordered them as well. Now Amazon says the mounting plate is not returnable. So don't order these items - they come with the lamp. Chain is about 4 ft long. Instructions indicate you take the bottom off the lamp to install the bulbs. You actually take the top off. For that,, you need a 6mm socket so be sure you have one. Even then, the paint on the nuts got scratched so we had to touch them up. Black paint was satisfactory. The mounting nuts that secure it to the box plate are also 6mm. The screws provided for mounting the canopy to the plate are quite short so I had to find longer ones. The ground wire for the lantern is separate from the zip-cord power cable and is bare copper. It will eventually turn dark since this is an outdoor lamp. Hope it doesn't turn green. I was going to change out the wire for one that included the ground but the holes it has to go through would not have been large enough.. All of this is pretty normal for a Chinese made item who's instructions are for a whole set of products but climbing up and down the ladder got a little old.

Solid quality and looks great but beware of a serious design flaw
Bought two of this for stone gate posts. Looks great with the curved glass. Built of cast aluminum and should last a long time. The white color matches the 3-rail PVC Ranch fence. Great value! The base of the unit is made of aluminum (like the rest of the lamp). The material thickness i very thin. But the manufacturer has threaded the base for the 3 supplied #8 screws intended to secure the lantern to a post or base. This does not work! The screws strips the thin aluminum even with very little force applied, making it impossible to safely secure the lantern. There is a fix if you like to do a bit of work. I simply drilled through the three threaded holes and right through the aluminum base with a 3/32 drill. I then used three White #8 x 9/16-in Socket Hex-Drive Sheet Metal Screws. This provides for a very secure mounting of the lantern. Alternatively (and especially of you use a steel pole) it might be better do to the same thing, but instead of using the sheet metal screws you could tap the hole with a #8 tap and then use the screws supplied with the lantern. The least one could ask is that the manufacture should make users aware this.

Perfect replacement, at least as good if not better quality, love the bottom glass panels.
I actually like this one better than the older one. It seems to be better material and there are windows in the bottom panel as well (my previous one was solid with no transparent panels on the bottom plates). The collar fit snug on the poll (didn’t really need to tighten the set screws; perfect fit really). And the wiring was rudimentary. I’ve been using it on and off every day for a couple of months. Haven’t had it through a cold winter yet, but it must have rained here at least 5” since I’ve installed it and it stayed bone dry inside. Perfect, traditional style lamp.

Nice lights for the money, but expect them to show signs of weathering after a few years....
I loved these lights when I first put them in. I have 6 around my pool that were installed in 2014, and I just installed 4 more along my front walkway last week. They look great when they are first installed, but within a year or two, the black fades to gray (I plan to spray paint the tops to make them black again), but the bigger problem is the plastic lenses around the bottom of the light turn a yellow/gold and are really noticeable. I wish they would use glass on the bottom instead of plastic as that would extend the useful life of these lights significantly.

Color not quite white; flimsy build
This lantern (I am reviewing the hanging style with 3 lights) looks good and is a great value for the money. However you get what you pay for of course. The build is not great, the center pole with the light sockets wiggles around instead of being fixed in a steady and aligned position inside of the lantern. I have a 20-yr old version of this lantern in my porch and it has a stronger build with the center pole extending all the way down to the lantern's bottom screw-in tip, as it looks in the picture of this product. However, the new NUVO design is not as such. I would have paid more for a stronger piece that would last many years just to avoid the hassle of replacing it again in a few years. Also, be aware that the "white" color is more like an ivory. My old lantern with 20 years of exposure to the elements is much whiter than this one.

Faded within a year
we moved into an older house and this light matched the existing lighting really well. Unfortunately, the material/coating just didn't hold up in the AZ sun. They have faded quite a bit in just 1 year. I guess you get what you pay for.
