Candlewick: The Crystal Line (Schiffer Book for Collectors

Clearly, this is an outstanding reference for those who collect Candlewick. All we really wanted to do was to just purchase a few pieces to complete certain aspects of the set that had been given to us from my spouse's mother. However, when I went to Amazon, to e-Bay and visited several antique stores, I found myself in totally unfamiliar territory. It was obvious that I was going to need help to wade through all the options and the item choices that (1) looked very similar or (2) had either specific or several functions or (3) had sizes and characteristics for which I needed clarification. That is when I sought a resource book.The authors, Myrna and Bob Garrison, have created an excellent resource for not only the novice (like me!) but dare I say also for those that are much more familiar with the Candlewick product than I. The prose is easy to understand and the photographs are great. And the price guide has been a fantastic help in our quest. I do have a few unanswered questions but I would believe that use of the additional references provided in the guide should assist me in finding answers to my questions and resolving some of the product availability issues.Perhaps the best result from purchasing this guide is the fact that together, my wife and I have had fun researching, finding and purchasing a number of pieces BY BEING INFORMED BUYERS!

This book steps up to the next level from those worthy guides published in earlier decades by Mary M. Wetzel-Tomalka. Full color illustrations, beautifully executed, and a complete round up of the production line. If you are newly interested or a serious veteran collector, you'll find this volume an indispensable reference source. The valuation prices do seem a little high and perhaps ought to be regarded best for insurance purposes. Normal auction and most shop prices for commonly found items will be less than those presented here. However, as happened with Mary M. Wetzel-Tomalka's books, the piece costs may soon approach those shown in this book, so maybe the authors are only thinking a little ahead of the curve. Highly recommended for the reference shelf.

I recently inherited over 500 pieces of Candlewick. Because of the great photography, informative narrative, and price guide, I have a much better understanding of and appreciation for the historical and monetary value my collection. This is the first resource that I have been able to find that provided me with all the information I needed in one place. Well done!

This is a book that I have been wanting for quite a while. I had inherited a large set of Candlewick from grandmother's on both sides of the family and have been adding to it for several years. This book is very informative and helpful.
